SI Lists The 50 Highest-Earning Athletes

It’s time again for Sports Illustrated’s Fortunate 50 — a ranking of the 50 highest-earning athletes in American sports, plus the 20 highest-earning in the world.

For the eighth straight year, Tiger Woods tops the list. But his earnings are dropping. It looks like he’ll have to scrape along with just $62 million from 2010. That’s down from $92 million the year before, and $127.9 million in 2008.

At this rate, Tiger will run out of money in never years.

Golf also provides the U.S. No. 2 — Phil Mickelson at $61.1 million.

All of which proves one thing — golf endorsements are the best in American sports. Woods’ total includes $60 million in endorsements. Mickelson’s includes $57 million. No one else in the top 10 has more than $30 million, and that’s LeBron James, who comes in at No. 3.
