MIDDLETON CLASSES GET TO ENJOY PROM THEY NEVER HAD
Maybe it was not what it would have been more than 40 years ago, but the group in attendance enjoyed it. The Middleton High School Classes of 1972 and 1973 were so devastated that they had to leave their beloved school after the 1971 school year, due to integration. Many of the students were deprived of the opportunity to go to their prom. Forty-six years later, there was the opportunity to attend the prom. The event was held on June 29, 2018, and according to Joseph Garvin, ‘it was a success.’ Entitled ‘The Prom We Never Had…Until Now,’ the event was held at the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Center, hosted by Elegant Events. The group even crowned a King and Queen – Alfred Pyles and Barbara Shazer. Among those who attended the prom were: kneeling: Alfred Pyles and Reginald Brown.
