Ms. Muhammad said, “I want to tell people that it is okay to take medication for mental illnesses. I was 28 years old when I had my first episode, but I refused to accept it.”
Ms. Muhammad earned her B. A. Degree in Psychology with a Business minor from the University of South Florida. After graduation, she earned certification as a TV Producer and has produced several shows in the bay area.
Ms. Muhammad said, “I always thought I was a normal person and normal people don’t get mental illnesses. After being diagnosed as a Schizophrenic, I didn’t believe it and refused to take my medicine. I knew what the symptoms were because I had earned my degree in Psychology and had studied Parapsychology as well.
“But, I finally accepted it after being hospitalized 6 times. Now, I feel that by telling my story, I may save someone’s life.”
She hopes that others having this problem will attend the book signing.
