Downtown Lounge To Feature Popular Musician

Professional musician, Shawn Brown, has joined forces with the downtown Tampa club, the Spice Lounge and Restaurant, to bring a refreshing entertainment venue for the older mature crowd.

Every Saturday at the lounge, 204 North Morgan Street, Brown will be performing as well as other local artists, national artists, and special guests. DJ Will is responsible for the music.

Brown said Kyle Kwik, who manages the lounge, supports his charitable efforts, and they decided to bring him in to work at the lounge and extend an invitation to the public to join them.

“We will have life entertainment, line dancing, and just general mature entertainment. We want to promote a safe environment, great staff, and the fact that the lounge is next door to the County Courthouse. We want to attract the 25 and over crowd and the dress code calls for no sneakers, no jerseys, no hats turned backwards, and no sagging pants.”

Brown, who also has a commercial being aired, said on May 14th he will have an exhibit that will be on display at MOSI for Cancer Awareness.

“The display will be there for five years and I consider myself a spokesman to get African Americans involved and encourage them to get pre-screened. At the Spice Lounge, you can have it your way. Every first Saturday of the month, we will have Zodiac parties for the sign that represents that month. There will also be all kinds of specials available.”

Brown said he is honored to be a part of this lounge, because the majority of the night spots cater to the hip hop crowd only, and that’s not an environment the mature crowd feels comfortable in. “At the Spice Lounge, we will play some hip hop, but mostly it will be a mix of all kinds of music. We want the people to come out and judge for themselves.”
