STUDENTS ARE RECIPIENTS OF AL DIXON SCHOLARSHIP

Bridges Over Troubled Waters, Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 2007, presented its 2015 and 2016 scholarships on December 20, 2016 at the Open Cafe. The scholarship is named in honor of Al Dixon, an educator and life coach in the Hillsborough County School System for more than 30 years. Members of the Board of Directors and the scholarship recipients from left are: Clem Brooks, Mary Darby, Gerald McLean, Jordan Peoples, 2015 first place recipient, a student at Valencia College in Orlando; Kristopher Brown, 2016 first place recipient, who attends Florida A&M University, Tallahassee; Eleanor Dixon, Irving Ward and Wilton Day. Each of the first place recipients received $1,000. Unable to attend were second place awardees, Chanise Thomas (2015) and Kieana Spann (2016), who each received a $500 scholarship.
