Earlier this month, the Hillsborough County Office of Community Affairs, the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the City of Tampa partnered to commemorate one of the nation’s most important historical milestones: the 50th Anniversary of the Signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Scheduled speakers for the event were: State Representative Alan B. Williams, District 8, Florida Legislative Black Caucus, Chairman; Delano S. Stewart, PA, first Florida attorney with an integrated law practice; and John Schmelzer, Acting Director of Field Coordination Programs, EEOC, Washington, DC. Among those in attendance at the John F. Germany Public Library were: from left, Rep. Alan Williams, Natasha Goodley, Carolyn H. Collins, Yvette Lewis and Albert Coleman. (Photograph by BRUNSON)
