50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ‘MARCH ON WASHINGTON’ DRAWS THOUSANDS TO LINCOLN MEMORIAL

On Saturday, August 24th, thousands and thousands of people from all over the nation lined both sides of the Reflecting Pool east of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic “March On Washington.” Fifty years before, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his historic “I Have A Dream” speech to hundreds of thousands of people.  Julian Bond, a well-known activist, who was a member SNCC, (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) in 1963. SNCC was one of the sponsors of the original “March On Washington.”
