A Hillsborough County man who failed to update his information as a sex offender is being held on a $1.2 million bond. He was arrested after a 12-year-old girl told her mother that he had molested her more than a dozen times.

Tampa Police arrested 48-year-old Edison Leonard Balcom last Thursday and charged him with sexual battery on a child, lewd and lascivious conduct, and failure to report as a sex offender.

Police stated that Balcom allegedly admitted to the girl’s mother that he had touched her during a telephone call recorded by investigators. He was arrested in the 400 block of W. Platt Street.
