ST. PETERSBURG – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that left one woman dead, and at least three others injured.

According to the report, at 6:30 a. m. Monday, Sandra Weems, 58, was driving a Pontiac sedan north in the southbound lanes on I-275 at Exit 16 when she struck a Ford van driven by David C. Davis, 44, head-on.

The crash occurred just before the Miesner Bridge heading toward the Skyway Bridge, according to authorities, and Weems was killed on impact.

Three passengers in the van were transported to a local hospital, with one reported to be in serious condition and two others suffering minor injuries.
