FIRST BLACK PRE-TRIAL SERVICES OFFICER IN TAMPA DIVISION RETIRES

Last week was kind of bitter sweet for Ms. Cynthia F. Myers. Friday, September 28, 2012 was her last day of work; she’s retiring. But then, she was saddened to leave the people she has worked with for the last 21 years. Ms. Myers began her career with the United States Pre-Trial Services Agency on June 3, 1991. She was the first Black Pre-Trial Services Officer hired in the Tampa Division. A retirement celebration was held for her last Friday in the Federal Building. Several U. S. and Magistrate Judges, Federal Public Defenders, U. S. Deputy Marshals, Department of Corrections Officers and various law enforcement officers, treatment vendor providers, family and friends attended the event. Among those who congratulated her on this milestone were: from left, Shelia Jacoby, Chief Pre-Trial Services Officer; Judge Thomas McCoun, Judge Mary Scriven, Cynthia Myers (retiree) and Judge Charles Wilson.
