A 34-year-old Tampa rapper was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Wednesday. He was also ordered to served eight years of supervision upon his release.
According to the U. S. Attorney’s Office, Demetrius Gregory “Money Clipz” Floyd was arrested in October 2010 and charged with possession of 28 grams or more of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it. His trial was held in June and a jury found him guilty of the charge on June 6, 2012.
According to court documents, during the execution of a search warrant, Floyd was found in the bedroom of the home. In addition to his clothing, mail, and driver’s license, more than 300 grams of crack cocaine was discovered in the bedroom. Police also found sandwich bags, a digital scale, and a razor blade. Floyd’s DNA was also found on packaging that contained 33 grams of crack cocaine, documents showed.
Court documents showed that Floyd is a local rapper. In addition to serving the 30-year sentence, he was also ordered to serve a term of eight years of supervision upon his release from prison.
