Tampa Police reported that at 6:20 a. m. Thursday, a woman was struck by an SUV at 22nd Street and Hillsborough Avenue.

According to the report, Sharon Okoh-Esene, 46, was crossing Hillsborough Avenue to the south when she was hit by a Lexus SUV. Officers patrolling the area saw Okoh-Esene on the ground unconscious.

Tampa Fire Rescue was called and responded to the scene. Okoh-Esene was transported to a local hospital with severe head and leg injuries. Her condition is reported to be critical.

The SUV’s driver, Naresh Shah, was not charged in the accident.
