Rising R&B star Frank Ocean has officially come out of the closet. The singer posted a statement about his sexuality on his Tumblr page, clearing up rumors that have been circulating since his new album was previewed for music critics. Ocean talks about falling in love with a man and the profound effect it had on him.
Ocean’s revelation is especially compelling considering the fact that the 24-year-old crooner has long been affiliated with the alternative hip-hop collective, Odd Future, a controversial group which has been routinely criticized for blatantly homophobic lyrical content.
Still, that group’s frontman, Tyler the Creator, was nothing but supportive when the news of Ocean’s statement broke.
