If you watched “Road Trip,” which was released in 2000, then you were likely a fan of “Rhonda,” who was played by Mia Amber Davis. Unfortunately, Davis died last year in the midst of a promising plus-size modeling and acting career. Now her widower, Mike Yard, is suing Davis’ former OBGYN and family practitioner for the death of his wife.
According to Yard, a stand-up comedian, an OBGYN prescribed his wife birth control pills, months before she passed of pulmonary embolism or blood clots on May 9.
In the suit, Yard says, “[Birth control pills] greatly increased her risk for a pulmonary embolism and ultimately caused her death.”
Apparently, one of the major risk factors that can contribute to blood clots is obesity, according to the suit.
Yard is arguing that the OBGYN and family practitioner should have known not to prescribe that method of birth control to Davis due to her weight.
