Michael Penix, Jr.
If Kirk Cousins resents Michael Penix Jr. for being the Atlanta Falcons’ first round pick, he apparently is not showing it.
Penix discussed working with Cousins on Friday as he started his first day of rookie minicamp. Penix said Cousins had been nothing but cordial so far, and that the veteran quarterback offered his help to the rookie.
“He said ‘What’s up, man?’” Penix said, via Charles Odum of the Associated Press. “He said he was happy to see me, happy to have me here. I just told him I can’t wait to work with him.”
Penix added that he felt “super blessed” to be able to work as Cousins’ backup, and that the two ultimately had the “same goals” of helping the team win. The Falcons coaches were extremely impressed with Penix throwing the football.
