A Tampa judge sentenced a 40-year-old woman to 3 years in state prison Thursday. She was charged with 3 counts of fraudulent use of personal information earlier this year.
According to the State Attorney’s Office, Ms. Rachel Amones entered a plea of guilt and elected to serve a longer prison sentence to be followed without probation. Mark Cox, spokesman for the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office said Ms. Amones was employed at a security company and had access to personal information.
“She was supposed to destroy the information, but sold it to people implicated in the turbo tax scheme.”
Ms. Amones was serving probation on five counts of uttering a forged bill when she was arrested on April 1st. She had been arrested on those charges in April 2009, jail records showed.
