The body of a 40-year-old member of the military who was killed in Afghanistan, will be returned home (Tuesday) today. Funeral services were incomplete as of press time.
Pfc. Christophe J. Marquis was injured on August 27th during an attack. He and his unit were in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, when the attack took place. Pfc. Marquis was taken to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, in Germany, where he later died from the injuries he sustained on September 4th.
On Tuesday, members of the community will have an opportunity to pay respects to Pfc. Marquis and his family as his body is escorted from MacDill Air Force Base to Wilson’s Funeral Home. His body will be escorted through the Bayshore Gate at approximately 11 a.m.
The processional will travel north on Bayshore Blvd., east on Platt Street Bridge, and north of Florida Avenue. It will then travel east on Jackson Street, north on Jefferson Street, and east on Twiggs Street to Channelside Drive.
The procession will then travel east on State Road 60 to N. 22nd Street. It will turn on E. 21st Avenue and travel to N. 29th Street to Wilson’s Funeral Home.
Pfc. Marquis became a member of the U. S. Army and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
