Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins has been popped in Arizona for allegedly buying 200 pounds of marijuana from an undercover detective.

The actor who starred alongside Tupac in Juice and Morgan Freeman in Lean On Me was charged with two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana.

Huggy, 38,  reportedly lives in North Carolina now  but went to Arizona to make the buy. Police say Hopkins told them he got involved in the drug deal to provide a nice Christmas for his family.

Hopkins is being held on $35,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison.

Fantasia Barrino reportedly gave birth to a healthy baby boy yesterday.

According to sources, the American Idol checked into Presbyterian hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina Monday afternoon with her boyfriend Antwaun Cooke. Barrino wasn’t expected to deliver until December 29, but the baby was obviously anxious to get out and celebrate the holidays.

This is the singer’s second child, but her first child with Cooke. She currently has a 10-year-old daughter Zion.

The name of her new baby, has yet to be released.

Fantasia has yet to formally acknowledge that Antwaun Cooke is the father of her baby, but has received considerable backlash from her followers because Cooke is still legally married to his estranged wife Paula.

The relationship was controversial because Paula Cooke claims Barrino began an affair with her husband in the summer of 2009, while the couple were happily married.

In August, the 27-year-old R&B singer announced that she was pregnant during a concert in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

At the time, Fantasia said her pregnancy was a gift from God, “This child that I carry, God has given me this child. And I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”

After Lowes created some open ad time, Russell Simmons filled it in a high profile way.

The music legend and entrepreneur tweeted on Monday that he bought all the remaining ad space on “All-American Muslim,” the TLC reality show that has been at the center of a recent media buy controversy.

“Just purchased remaining spots for #allamericanmuslim for next week,” he wrote. “The show is now sold out! keep your money @lowes and we will keep ours.”

In an effort to draw the financial crowd to his show, Hov has set the price tag very high. The show will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund and the United Way of New York City.

“I want to do my part to make sure everyone has an opportunity,” Jay-Z said in an interview today. “It’s really a shame when someone has drive and really wants to further their education, and they’re unable to because of their financial situation.”

The ticket prices ranging from $500 – $2,500 is meant to draw the more wealthy figures and executives.  The general public tickets will be sold at a much cheaper price on January 30th. “This is about connecting people to help other people.”

This performance will mark the first time that the Hall has hosted an entire show featuring a Hip Hop Artist.

U Can’t Touch This.   Well apparently the U.S. government says differently.

The one-time King Of Rap, MC Hammer, still owes the I.R.S. $779,585 in back taxes and has now filed a lawsuit against the Oaktown MC and his wife.

The back taxes are mainly from his financially troubled years, 1996 and 1997, and the government wants any concert earnings automatically directed back to the government.

Hammer filed for bankruptcy in 1996 after being more than $13 million in debt.

The gated, 16-room mansion built by Grammy Award-winning R. Kelly in 1997 in suburban Olympia Fields is officially on the market.

Kelly, 44, is selling the mansion, part of a $2.9 million foreclosure lawsuit, for $1.595 million. Kelly reportedly failed to make mortgage payments on the property at 2945 Maros Ln. since June 2010.

JPMorgan Chase filed a foreclosure suit on the Maros Lane mansion in July. The home’s appraised value went from an estimated $5.2 million to $3.8 million in the span of a year.

Eddie Murphy and Spike Lee are teaming up with HBO Films to do a biopic about the controversial former D.C. Mayor, Marion Barry.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lee is attached direct the film and John Ridley will write the script.

Murphy will play Marion Barry if the project moves forward.

Barry currently serves as a D.C. City Council member, representing DC’s Ward 8. Barry came into the national spotlight in 1990, while serving as DC’s mayor, when he was videotaped smoking crack cocaine and was arrested by the FBI officials on drug charges. He subsequently served 6 months in prison, before being re-elected as mayor in 1994.

Murphy, Lee and Ridley are all said to serve as executive producers for the project.

Ironically, this will be the first time Murphy and Lee have collaborated on a film. Lee has been quite critical of Murphy’s work in the past.

Chris Bridges, better known as the rapper Ludacris is an actor (Crash and 2 Fast 2 Furious), salesman (Ludacris Soul Headphones and Conjure Cognac), and philanthropist (The Ludacris Foundation). While all these accolades are impressive, Ludacris is a father first.

In a partnership with his 10 year- old daughter, Karma, Ludacris has created Karmasworld.com, an educational website that utilizes hip-hop to teach elementary students math, english and etiquette.

Rick Ross will not be caught off guard in case he suffers another medical emergency — the rapper now travels with his own special medical kit, just in case the seizures strike again.

Ross suffered not one … but two seizures on the same day in October while traveling to an event.

According to multiple sources, Ross wants to make sure he’s prepared in case it happens again … and put together a kit that includes 3 different prescription medications, vitamins, water and an inhaler.

We’re told Ross is serious about having the kit near him at all times … and often requires a member of his entourage to carry it around wherever he goes.
