Following his performance at the Grammys, some prominent entertainers like Miranda Lambert and Michelle Branch spoke out, criticizing the warm reception he received. Now Chris Brown lashed back, tweeting, “HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY.
In the wake of Whitney Houston’s passing, Chris Brown avoided intense media scrutiny surrounding his return to the Grammy Awards. As he bounced around on stage and picked up the award for Best R&B Album, it was also the three-year anniversary of Brown’s assault on then-girlfriend, Rihanna.
While there were some insensitive fans who trivialized domestic violence and seemed to welcome a punch in the face from Brown, others were not so happy to see him welcomed back into the spotlight or awarded for anything.

Roland Martin should’ve known better than to “joke” that you ought to “smack the ish” out of any guy at your Super Bowl party that’s “hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad.”
If not because the comment itself was distasteful, than because a political commentator ought to know better than anyone how quickly an off-the-cuff remark can be your undoing.
It’s no coincidence that Martin’s suspension was announced the same day that 20-year-old Brandon White, the victim of a violent homophobia-fueled beating, made headlines on the very network Martin is employed by. Mind you, these attacks also took place in the same city CNN is based in — Atlanta.
