The Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday signed rookie Denard Robinson, who is officially listed as an “offensive weapon” on the team’s roster.

The team did not disclose financial terms, but under the collective bargaining agreement, Robinson, who was drafted in the fifth round, will receive a four-year contract. The Jaguars begin training camp on July 25, with the first practice scheduled the following day.

Retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker Rolando McClain pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges on Tuesday.

McClain, a star at Alabama and the eighth overall pick in the 2010 draft by Oakland, was arrested April 21 in Decatur, Ala., his hometown.

McClain allegedly yelled obscenities at police officers as they were trying to disperse a large crowd of more than 700 people at a local park after they responded to calls about a fight.

No more…Where will Dwight Howard go? Will Dwight leave the Lakers? Does Mark Cuban have enough money to entice Howard? Will he go to the Warriors? Will the Rockets be a championship contender with Dwight next season? This NBA saga is over.

On Friday, Howard chose to leave the bright lights of Los Angeles to join the dynamic James Harden in Houston. With this acquisition, the Rockets immediately become a contending team in the West. By them adding the biggest free agent to an already young and explosive team, things look exciting in Texas.

While with the Lakers,  Howard averaged 17.1 points and 12.4 rebounds per game. Meaning his numbers didn’t show a decline, so the question is… why did he leave the place that has a legacy of great big men?

Howard was upset for the majority of the season, and the chemistry was never there. Los Angeles Laker Head Coach Mike D’Antoni’s up-tempo system was not an ideal fit for the big man. Although the Lakers made the playoffs as an 8^th seed, the season was considered an epic failure. The “nightmare” season for Howard is over and he did what he needed to do… left the Lakers.

Next season,  Los Angeles will be rebuilding. Kobe Bryant will be coming off of an Achilles’ heel injury.  So, the Lakers may among the bottom dwellers.

Houston will drastically get better, and hopefully Howard will finally stop whining and be happy and satisfied with a team.

The irony of Friday’s events is that Howard’s former team, the Orlando Magic are in the best shape since the 2012 blockbuster trade that sent Howard to Los Angeles, former Lakers center, Andrew Bynum to Philadelphia, and the 76ers’ superstar, Andre Iguodala to the Denver. Iguodala  has also signed elsewhere, leaving the Nuggets to play for the Golden State Warriors.  Although the Magic had the worst record out of the 4, they are the only team that has players from the trade on their current roster.

Now, the NBA universe can get back to business.  Now that Howard’s decision is no longer an issue, everyone can refocus on the sport and not the sideline antics of one of its biggest stars.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a reached a verbal agreement with free agent shooting guard, O.J. Mayo on a three year, $24 million deal.

Mayo averaged 15.3 points and 4.4 assists per game last season for the Dallas Mavericks, and he will fill the void left by J.J. Redick after a three-team trade sent him to the Clippers this week.

The Los Angeles Clippers’ roster keeps getting stronger.

Sources close to the situation said on Saturday night that free-agent point guard Darren Collison has verbally agreed to join the Clippers on a two-year deal with a player option entering the final year.

With no workable sign-and-trade available to the Clippers with his old team in Dallas, Collison opted to sign with L.A. for the remainder of its mid-level exception after the deal Matt Barnes secured with Los Angeles on Friday.

The move brings the former UCLA star home and reunites Collison with Clippers star Chris Paul, under whose tutelage Collison had a strong rookie season in New Orleans in 2009-10.

Washington Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin, III married his college sweetheart, Rebecca Liddicoat, on Saturday in Denver, near his spouse’s hometown of Boulder, Colorado.

The 23-year-old signal-caller chose the Denver area out of respect for his bride, but there were unique football ties involved.

WFLA in Tampa has announced that former Bucs great Ronde Barber will join their broadcast team for Buccaneers preseason games this summer.

Barber will serve as the game analyst for the three Bucs exhibitions on the channel, joining play-by-play man Chris Myers and sideline reporter Dan Lucas during the games.

Carmelo Anthony isn’t one to forget where he came from. The NBA All-Star returned to his old home to open two newly refurbished basketball courts in the Red Hook Houses, where the player spent his early childhood.

“It’s really, honestly, a dream come true,” Anthony said. The Carmelo Anthony Foundation and JPMorgan Chase funded the courts’ repaving, repainting and fixes to the surrounding fence, and added new logos and a paint job to the backboards and rims.

Dozens of men, women and young players gathered around the courts at the Red Hook East Houses at 62 Mill St., some standing on the sidelines, while others pressed against the fences under the sweltering sun, just to get a glimpse of the NBA superstar.

MIAMI — Ray Allen was wearing a pair of ski goggles to protect his eyes from the spray of champagne in the Miami Heat locker room last week, and assessed what it was like to be part of another NBA championship celebration.

“It feels right,” Allen said. “This feels right.” He’s hoping things stay that way next season.

Quickly tying up a loose end for the Heat, Allen exercised his $3.2 million player option Friday to remain with the club next season, when Miami will aim for a third straight NBA title.
