RECIPIENTS OF FIRST ANNUAL COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARDS
On Wednesday evening, members of the family and friends gathered at the Tampa Park Plaza Community Center for the presentation of the First Annual Community Impact Awards. Established by freshman State Representative Ed Narain, the awards recognized four Hillsborough County residents who have made lasting contributions to their respective communities. Shown from left to right are: Attorney Warren Hope Dawson, a practicing attorney and pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement; retired Attorney Delano Stewart, who was also active in the Civil Rights Movement and the first African American attorney to practice in Hillsborough County, State Representative Ed Narain, Ms. Shirley Griffin, a long time community activist in Progress Village, and James Hargrett, Jr., the first African American from Hillsborough County to serve as a State Representative and State Senator. TOP LADIES OF DISTINCTION INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS
Recently members of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Tampa Bay WCF Chapter held their Install Of Officers Ceremony. The new officers chosen to lead the organization for the next two years are: Lorretta Cottman, President; Maria Singfield, First Vice President; Thelma Shuman, Second Vice President; Phyllis Lawrence, Corresponding Secretary; Victoria row, Top Teen Advisor; Margaret LeCree, Recording Secretary, and Jean Miller, Financial Secretary.

SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT MEETS WITH SENTINEL EDITORIAL BOARD
On Tuesday, Jeff Eakins, Superintendent of the Hillsborough County School District, met with members of the Florida Sentinel Bulletin Editorial Board. During the meeting, Superintendent Eakins discussed the reorganization of the administration, including changing job descriptions and reassigning current employees. MIDDLETON HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 1968
Recently former students who attended the George S. Middleton High School united for their 2015 Annual All Class Reunion. The event took place at the Double Tree Hotel, Tampa Westshore Airport. The theme this year was “Moving Forward.” The former classmates also held their Annual Scholarship Dinner and Dance as part of the festivities. The Class of 1968 won the prize for having the most class members attend the reunion. Recently members of the Charmettes Incorporated, Hillsborough County Chapter, accompanied by Charmers and their guests traveled to Miami, to attend their 60th National Convention. The theme this year was “Charmettes in Action: Women Impacting Communities through Service and Deeds.” The national platform of Charmettes is eradicating cancer in our lifetime. In addition, other initiatives supported by the Charmettes include: education, health, scholarships and community development. Reverend Dr. Barbara J. Morton is the National President of The Charmettes and Delores B. Williams is President of the Tampa Chapter.
