87th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS
The Reverend Willie G. Dixon celebrated his 87th Birthday with a party and “Get Out The Vote” (GOTV) Rally. Passionate about the need for African-Americans to get out the vote and to encourage 10 people to get out and vote, Rev. Dixon dubbed his birthday party a Voting Rally. The event was held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Charles Davis Conference Center. Family and friends joined him for the celebration. ELECTED OFFICIALS, MINISTERS MEET WITH MAYOR ANDREW GILLUM
The Black Elected officials in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties including Black Ministers came together on Saturday, October 27th at Allen Temple AME Church to meet with Mayor Andrew Gillum. All participants came together to support and endorse his candidacy as the first African American Democratic nominee for Governor in the State of Florida. “We are hopeful that the voters in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties come out in mass numbers on or before November 6th to support Mayor Gillum,” stated Tampa City Council Chairman Frank Reddick.

SHARING FASHIONS WAS PART OF WOMEN’S BRUNCH
Alysia Lance, founder of She’Xcellence, hosted a Women’s Empowerment Summit last month. The event was held at the Embassy Suites By Hilton in Brandon. In addition to Praise and Worship and Words of Empowerment, there was Brunch and a Fashion Show with several of the women as participants. MOTORCYCLE CLUB HOSTS 14thANNUAL EVENT
The Venom Ryderz Motorcycle Club’s held its 14th Annual event recently. This event is held every year on the first full weekend of October. The Venom Ryderz Motorcycle Club was founded 14 years ago by the president and 3 other gentlemen, all of whom are Alumni Rattlers of FAMU. The Venom Ryderz of Tampa Bay live by their motto, “Always Giving Back,” by giving back to the community during Christmas season, Back to School events, and volunteering to feed the homeless.
The Venom Ryderz invites anyone that enjoys a relaxing atmosphere, good music and food, to attend their annual event; you don’t have to ride a motorcycle to attend, just bring your good “Spirit” and prepare to have a good time! WOMEN ATTEND CHURCH’S PRAYER BREAKFAST
The Women’s Intermediate Auxiliary (WIA) of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Larry L. Roundtree, II, Pastor, held its Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, September 29, 2018. The 9 a. m. Breakfast was held in the church’s Rev. Dr. Walter J. Williams Life Center. The theme was, “Something Happens When You Pray.” The guest speaker was Rev. Brian K. Brown of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, St. Petersburg. GREATER BETHEL M. B. CHURCH HOSTS COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
Greater Bethel M. B. Church, Inc., held its Homeless Community Service Day on Saturday, October 6. The guest speaker was Attorney Paul Rebein. Greater Bethel, in partnership with Metropolitan Ministries, is helping those who are in need with housing and other necessities. More than 30 community service partners participated and offered an array of social services to the homeless and low income community. SUCCESS STORY SHARED AT 2018 CEC OF TAMPA LUNCHEON
Javed Morgan shared his ‘Story of Success’ on Tuesday when the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa (CDC) held its annual luncheon. The CDC Champions Luncheon was held at TPepin’s Hospitality Centre. The Keynote Speaker was Stephen Glaude, President & CEO, Coalition of Nonprofit Housing & Economic Development, Washington, D. C. Morgan, founder of WealthWave, a financial service, credits much of his success to the CDC Of Tampa Youth Services. YELLOW JACKETS WIN 2018 HERITAGE CLASSIC, 19-16
The Yellow Jackets of Howard W. Blake High School won the 2018 Heritage Classic, 19-16. The competition between Blake and the Tigers of Middleton High School was held on Friday night at Blake. The Athletic Boosters Club of Blake hosted this year’s event. The Title Sponsors were Dr. and Mrs. H. Earl Cotman. Mrs. Cotman is a Blake graduate and former queen.
