Man Arrested For Double Murder

          The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Tampa man in connection with a double homicide in Dover.

      On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 5:25 p.m., the Communications Center received a call from a neighbor regarding a deceased female in the 3700 block of Sumner Road in Dover.

     Once on scene, deputies discovered a deceased female outside a mobile home with severe blunt-force trauma. When deputies entered the house, they found a young child who was also deceased with severe blunt-force trauma.

      Investigators, K9 units, and Aviation immediately began searching for a suspect, Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc, 31, who they believed fled the area on foot.

     On Thursday, April 25, 2024, less than 24 hours after the discovery of a deceased woman and child, HCSO detectives found Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc hidden in a wooded area less than two miles from the scene of the crime.

     Detectives and several members of HCSO specialty teams worked all through the night to locate Cuz-Choc. Throughout the extensive search, K9 deputies tracked him to a wooded area between I-4 and Glen Harwell Road, where he was concealed in a bush.

     The two victims identified are: Amalia Coc Choc de Pec, 36, and Estrella Anastasia Pec Coc, 4.

      In interviews with detectives after he was arrested, Cuz-Choc confessed to both murders.

     While additional charges may be forthcoming, at this time, Cuz-Choc is facing the following charges:

  • Murder in the First Degree with a Weapon x2.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m., on Sunday, April 28th, officers on specialty patrol in the SOHO area were responding to a fight when they heard shots fired nearby and
immediately responded to the gunfire.

During the investigation, officers learned the incident started with a fight
among several adults in a parking lot on the corner of South Howard Avenue and
DeLeon Street.

Kelvin Terry, 29, told police he had been punched,
and his friend had been hit by several people. During the altercation, Terry admitted to firing shots.

No one reported any injuries from the shots fired,
but a nearby building was struck several times.

As a result of the incident, several people were arrested and face charges.

Tomia Gay, 23, was charged with battery;
Santrice West, 23, was charged with battery and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.

Derrick Hunter, Jr., 23, was charged with  battery; Kelvin Terry was charged with  shooting at, within or into a building,
and discharging firearm into public or residential property.

Community Help Needed To Solve Shooting Death Of 14-Year-Old Found Near Railroad Tracks

     Tampa Police Detectives are asking the community for assistance in identifying those responsible for the shooting death of 14-year-old Jevario Buie.

      On Wednesday, April 17th, just after 3:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 1400 block of W. Busch Blvd.  Upon arrival, they found Jevario near the railroad tracks between Busch Blvd. and Rome Ave., where he died from his injuries.

    “This is a senseless tragedy that has taken a young life,” said Chief Lee Bercaw.  “Jevario’s family is heartbroken, and our detectives are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. We are asking the community to come forward with any information they may have. Even the smallest detail could be crucial in solving this case and finding justice for Jevario’s family.”

      In an effort to generate leads, Jevario’s family has authorized the release of his information and photographs. Detectives are hopeful that someone with information about the shooting will come forward to aid in the investigation. The family is also requesting privacy as they navigate this difficult time.

St. Pete Police Arrest Third Suspect In Homicide

St. Petersburg detectives arrested the third suspect, Randy Reynolds
in Saturday’s homicide and he is charged with 1st degree felony murder and armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
Detectives determined that on Saturday, April 20th, at 1:18 p.m., three men
approached Marcus Rivers, 22, in his vehicle at the intersection of 80th
Avenue Northeast and Riverside Drive Northeast. Shots were fired leaving
Rivers dead and 17-year-old Tyvion Royal injured.

     Royal remains in critical but stable condition as of Monday morning. Royal is
charged with the following:
-1st degree felony murder
-armed robbery
-delinquent in possession of firearm.
A second suspect, Samarion Douglas, 17, was later arrested on
Saturday, and charged with the following:
-1st degree felony murder
-armed robbery.

     Detectives believe the suspects and the victim were known to each other and
that the incident was drug-related.

     This is still an ongoing investigation.

Tampa Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Moped Accident

     Tampa Police officers arrested a 38-year-old Hispanic man who turned himself in as the suspect in a hit and run accident. At approximately 6:00 p.m., Nicholas Harrison, Jr. turned himself in at the Tampa Police
District 3 office.

     At approximately 3:57 a. m. Friday, April 19, 2024, officers began investigating a fatal vehicle vs moped accident.

     The investigation revealed that the suspect was driving a 2007 Dodge Charger
and was traveling eastbound on E. Hillsborough Ave. The victim, a Black male, who was also traveling eastbound, was driving a moped. Both the defendant and victim were
traveling in the inside lane when Harrison’s vehicle struck the rear of the
victim’s moped. Harrison fled the scene and continued traveling eastbound on
E. Hillsborough Ave., with the moped lodged in the front bumper of his vehicle.
The moped eventually dislodged and was located less than a mile away from the scene.

     Upon their arrival, officers located the victim on scene, where he was later
pronounced deceased. He has not been identified.

     After turning himself in, Harrison was transported to Orient Road Jail and charged with one felony count of leaving the scene of a crash with death.

     The Tampa Police Department reminds the community to stay on scene when involved in a crash. Once you leave the scene, you may face criminal charges,
especially if the crash results in serious injury or death.

20-Time Convicted Felon Linked To Overdose Death; Charge Updated To Murder

     A 47-year-old man described as a 20-time convicted felon, has been arrested and linked to the death of a 27-year-old man.

     According to detectives of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, on November 5, 2023, Querran Talley, 27, was found deceased in a mobile home park in Thonotosassa (corner of East Fowler and Walker Rd.). Upon searching Talley, detectives found what appeared to be crack cocaine in his socks.

    Following their investigation, the detectives of the HCSO’s Opioid Overdose Investigation Unit discovered that Anthony Mansfieldsupplied the drugs that led to Talley’s overdose.

      On November 16, 2023, detectives arrested Mansfield for trafficking in fentanyl (28 grams or more), possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, delivery of a controlled substance, VOP cocaine – sale, manufacturing, delivery, possession.

     Mansfield has been in the Falkenburg Road Jail without bond while the death investigation was ongoing.

     On February 26, 2024, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death of Talley to be caused by the combined effects of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and oxycodone.

     On April 18, 2024, the facts were presented to a Grand Jury and Mansfield’s charges have been updated to include Murder in the First Degree.

Pinellas Park Police Officers Arrest 57-Year-Old Man for Child Abuse

     Pinellas Park, FL – On the evening of Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Pinellas Park Police
Officers responded to a disturbing incident at Helen Howarth Park (6301 94th
Ave N, Pinellas Park). Witnesses reported a man following three young children and making inappropriate comments to them. The man was identified as Joseph Veltre.

     During the investigation, it was determined Veltre continuously followed three
young children within the park and made inappropriate and lewd comments to
them by asking if he could masturbate in front of them. Veltre was taken into
custody by officers on scene and charged with child abuse, aggravated stalking
of a child under 16, and traveling to meet a minor.

      At the time of the arrest, Veltre was on bond for lewd and lascivious
exhibition to an elderly adult or disabled person. He is also a registered sex
offender.

     The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a juvenile who fired a gun at a minor and tampered with evidence.

      On Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 4:37 p. m., deputies responded to the 900 block of Seminole Sky Drive in Ruskin.

     The caller, Cody Shimooka, 15, advised that he was helping pack up a neighbor’s home when he located a firearm within a drawer and it went off when he moved it, striking a 14-year-old victim in the chest, who was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

     After a thorough investigation, HCSO detectives located evidence contradicting Shimooka’s statements. Detectives also determined that the suspect tampered with physical evidence at the scene before deputies arrived.

      “This type of behavior has no place in our community. Teenagers should be focused on going to school and making friends, but now we have a tragedy that will forever change the lives of all those connected,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. 

     HCSO met with the State Attorney’s Office and approved charging Cody Shimooka with the following charges:

     Manslaughter with a firearm; tampering with physical evidence; and minor in possession of a firearm.

      This is an active investigation.

     Two teens have been arrested in connection to the shooting near Armature Works that injured four on last Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

     The Tampa Police Department said Gabriel C. Catuy, 17, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on attempted second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm charges.

     Officials said the teen was identified through witnesses and surveillance video that showed him shooting toward two people when the incident happened.

      Hillsborough State Attorney Suzy Lopez said Catuy has a prior juvenile criminal history, and her office does plan on charging him as an adult in the shooting.

     Jaimartez Young, 19, turned himself in and was charged with attempted murder premeditated discharge, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm in public. 

     On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at approximately 4:08 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of N. Ola Avenue following reports of multiple shots fired outside
Stones Throw Restaurant, an establishment near Armature Works.
Upon their arrival, officers located three victims: a 47-year-old female who suffered a gunshot wound in the arm; a 28-year-old pregnant female, Jenny Brown,
who suffered a gunshot wound to her ankle; and a 36-year-old female
who was grazed by a bullet. Two of the victims were transported to a local
hospital in stable condition; while the other was treated on the  scene.

     Based on the preliminary investigation, two groups of teen males between the
ages of 13 and 17 were near Stones Throw Restaurant, when they engaged in a
verbal altercation that quickly escalated when multiple rounds were fired.

     Following the altercation, both groups fled the scene. One of the subjects
involved self-transported to a local hospital after sustaining a non-life threatening wound to his leg. This individual is believed to be affiliated
with one of the groups involved in the dispute.

     Based on witness accounts and current evidence, an individual from each group
exchanged gunfire with one other.
Determining if the firearms used in the incident were stolen is part of the
ongoing investigation. Detectives have identified persons of interest and are
actively following up on leads provided to them by local businesses and
community members to identify the additional individuals in both groups.
