Prince’s House In Minnesota Avoids Foreclosure

Prince’s House In Minnesota Avoids Foreclosure

Iconic pop star, Prince, recently avoided foreclosure on his 20-acre spread in Chanhassen, Minn., paying a delinquent mortgage bill of $368,000 in full.

His lender, Bank of New York Mellon Trust Co., filed for foreclosure and a public auction was supposed to take place May 13, 2011, but was avoided.

The seven-time Grammy Award-winner now owns the land, which he purchased for $605,000 in 1994, free and clear. The home on the property is now worth an estimated $1.15 million.

This foreclosure threat was one of the recent financial delinquencies the 52-year-old pop star has recently encountered.

In fact, Prince just paid $1.3 million for current and delinquent property taxes that were owed from 2009 and 2010. He was also behind on paying the tax bills in 2006 and 2008.

Rapper B.G. Indicted On Gun, Conspiracy Charges

Rapper B.G. Indicted On Gun, Conspiracy Charges

NEW ORLEANS — A federal grand jury indicted New Orleans rapper B.G. on gun and conspiracy charges, U. S. Attorney Jim Letten said.

Letten said the 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Christopher Dorsey, faces two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

If convicted, Dorsey faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the gun charges and up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine on the conspiracy charge.

The charges are from a 2009 traffic stop in which officers recovered three guns, two of which were reported stolen. Dorsey was arrested along with two others in the vehicle, Demounde Pollard and Jerod Fedison.

According to the indictment, Dorsey conspired with Pollard and Fedison to obstruct justice by “inducing Demounde Pollard to sign a false affidavit attesting that Dorsey did not possess three firearms on Nov. 3, 2009.”

B.G. is probably best known for 1999’s “Bling Bling,” which was a hit by the group, the Hot Boys, of which he was a member along with rappers Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk.

Rihanna, Taylor Swift Win Big At Billboard Awards

Rihanna, Taylor Swift Win Big At Billboard Awards

Rihanna and Taylor Swift were two of the key winners at the Billboard Music Awards, which returned after a five-year hiatus with a major dose of star power, featuring Beyonce, U2, the Black Eyed Peas — even First Lady Michelle Obama.

Like many other awards shows, the three-hour Billboard Awards served more as a promotional vehicle for today’s top pop stars than a trophy presentation. The show was packed with performances — a piano-levitating Cee Lo Green, a scantily clad Rihanna on “S&M” joined by Britney Spears, a much-bleeped Lil Wayne with Mary J. Blige, and Neil Diamond leading the audience in a sing-a-long to “Sweet Caroline” and “America.”

Rihanna’s wins were for Radio Artist Of The Year and Top Female Artist. Swift won the evening’s first award, as Top Album Artist, behind the multimillion sales for “Speak Now.” She also won Top Country Artist.

Other award winners included Justin Bieber, Lady Antbellum and the Black Eyed Peas.

Beyonce received a special “Millennium” Award for her career achievements: The 29-year-old phenomenon was lauded in a video by an array of legends and luminaries, including Stevie Wonder, Barbara Streisand, Bono, Lady Gaga and First Lady Michelle Obama.

“This is a moment I have to soak in because it’s gonna be — and it is — one of the best moments of my life,” said Beyonce after getting the award from her mother, Tina Knowles. Beyonce also performed her new song, “Run the World (Girls).”
