Jay-Z may be celebrating his Cash King status, but his former protégé Beanie Sigel is having some big federal issues dealing with his income.
After admitting in federal court that he did not file or pay taxes between 2003 and 2005, MTV News reports that now Sigel is looking at serving up to three years in prison. He will be sentenced on November 18.
Prosecutors believe that the MC owes about $350,000 on an unreported income of $1 million. While he does admit to three counts of failure to file his federal income tax returns, his attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr., asserts that the amount of money the government claims he owes is incorrect.
Perri Jr. told MTV News that they hope to successfully challenge the numbers at the sentencing hearing. If they are able to do so, the lowered amount owed to the government in taxes may alter the judge’s decision on Sigel’s punishment. It could even reduce the three year maximum looming over Sigel.
Sigel has seen better days. He released his album the Truth in 1999, and signed with Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. Under the record company he achieved some success but saw it decline when he he went to prison in October 2004 on weapon charges. Later he released four solo albums and started his own rap group and label record, State Property. State Property also saw mediocre success through its clothing line and two movies.
Despite his career and ventures, the Philadelphia-based rapper maintains he wasn’t really making that much money. He told MTV’s Sway last month on RapFix Live, that while it may have looked like he was getting money, “he didn’t get everything he felt he was owed.”
In addition although the clothing line and movie scripts were his ideas, he only owned 20 percent of State Property and only got “SAG wages” from the movies.

The apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Even without their famous parents’ wealth, superstar siblings Willow and Jaden Smith are multimillionaires. The two are listed on PEOPLE’s ‘Richest Teens’ list for their million-dollar earnings.
Jaden raked in $5 million in 2010, $3 million of which came from his blockbuster film, “Karate Kid,” and other deals. Willow, technically not a teen just yet, earned $4 million from her hit single, “Whip My Hair,” and record deal.
Congrats to Willow and Jaden!

Back in May Cash Money records CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams hinted via Twitter that he had purchased an $8 million Maybach Exelero, but according to the luxury car’s owner the vehicle remains for sale.
As previously reported, Birdman took to Twitter to boast of a new car purchase and after posting a picture of the $8 million 2005 concept car, posted the tweet, “8million 0n a whip all red.blievetht.custom made.ymcmb.”
However, reps for the cars owner, Arnaud Massartic, recently deaded Birdman’s implied purchase telling MotorAuthority magazine that Baby’s cash money hasn’t made its way into his hands.
The car remains on sale.
The Maybach Exelero is a very rare concept car built in 2005. The model is based on the Maybach 57 limo containing a twin turbo V12 and able to reach speeds of 0-60 in just over 4 seconds.

The “Red Nation” rapper had Compton sheriff’s phone lines ringing off the hook after giving out the station’s number on Twitter. Game offered all of his twitter followers an internship at his label Black Wall Street, prompting them to call the provided number to apply.
The L.A. Sheriff’s Department opened a criminal investigation following the chaos-causing tweet, as a result, hundreds of callers phoned up the emergency phone system, delaying service.
“This was beyond irresponsible,” said Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Parker. “The deputies’ ability to answer the phones and dispatch personnel to help these people in danger was significantly impeded.”
Extra deputies were needed to handle the high amount of calls. It was unknown how many legitimate emergency calls did not get through because all lines were engaged for over two hours.
“Yall can track a tweet down but cant solve murders ! Dat was an accident but maybe now yall can actually do yall job !!!! #iSpeak4ThePeople,” tweeted Game after Parker asked him to remove the tweet.
Investigators are compiling a criminal complaint and will pass their findings to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office for filing.

During his syndicated radio show, comedian Steve Harvey called out Cornel West and Tavis Smiley for their poverty bus tour, while defending President Barack Obama.
After a listener sent an email about the duo’s tour being a hustle, Harvey didn’t shy away for offering his own opinion — accusing West and Smiley for using personal vendettas to damage the Obama’s name.
“I was a huge fan of Cornel West,” he said. “[But] Tavis, I seen him coming a mile away. His anger started when he had a town hall meeting, President Obama couldn’t come because of the campaign trail and he sent Mrs. Obama. He has held that grudge every since.”
The writer and comedian also mocked West for not getting extra tickets to Obama’s inauguration. Harvey said, “Have you ever been invited to the damn inauguration? Did Bush send for you? Did Clinton send for you? Did Reagan send for you?”
Harvey continued his rant by referring to Smiley and West as being affiliated with UTLO.org (which stands out for “Uncle Tom Look Out”).
Harvey mocked the tour by saying, “Make sure you don’t get on the poverty bus… because if you ain’t po’, when you ride the bus, you become po’.”
