NY Club Liquor License Suspended After Drake-Chris Brown Brawl

NEW YORK  — A New York City nightclub that was the site of a bottle-hurling brawl after a dispute between the entourages of singers Drake and Chris Brown has had its liquor license suspended.

The State Liquor Authority suspended the license of W.i.P. and its adjacent Greenhouse during an emergency meeting Tuesday night.

Agency Chairman Dennis Rosen tells the Daily News that the authority “would not tolerate violent bars that break the law.”

The company that runs Greenhouse sued the city Monday for shutting it down, saying it was losing $264,000 a week.

Hip-Hop Mogul Indicted On Murder-For-Hire Charges

NEW YORK — Hip-hop mogul James Rosemond has been indicted in New York on a murder-for-hire charge.

Prosecutors brought the revised indictment Friday accusing Rosemond of ordering others to kill a man in the Bronx in 2009 as payback for an assault on his 14-year-old son.

The 47-year-old chief executive of New York-based Czar Entertainment is already imprisoned. He was recently convicted in federal court in Brooklyn on drug trafficking charges.

‘The Cycle’: Touré Tapped To Co-Host New MSNBC Show

Author and culture critic, Touré, has jumped into the the big leagues as a co-host for the new MSNBC show, “The Cycle,” reports the Huffington Post.

The new program, which the network was set to announce on Thursday, will feature a permanent cast of four: conservative commentator S.E. Cupp, author and pundit Touré, Salon writer Steve Kornacki and former Congressional candidate Krystal Ball.

Maxwell Cancels Short Tour Due To Vocal Swelling And Hemorrhaging

NEW YORK  — R&B singer Maxwell has cancelled his short U.S. tour after developing vocal swelling and hemorrhaging.

A representative for the R&B singer said Friday that he has been advised by doctors to rest and undergo treatment. Maxwell’s six-date summer tour had shows planned for Los Angeles, Atlanta and Newark, N.J. for July and August.

Maxwell said in the statement that cancelling the tour “sucks” and he plans to hit the road when his new album, “blackSUMMERS’night,” is released later this year.

DMX Cleared In $630,000 Tour Lawsuit

The law is finally working in DMX’s favor.  According to reports a booking agency dropped their $630,000 lawsuit against the rapper.

Heavy Rotation filed the suit against X after a comeback tour never came into fruition. The booking agency signed a one-year deal with the 42-year-old to perform different dates all over the country. Unfortunately both sides couldn’t come to an agreement, the shows never happened, and HR claims to have lost $750,000 in the aftermath.

X’s team claimed that they terminated the business deal, but failed to give details as to why. In May, he announced the kick-off of his Undisputed: Weigh In tour.

Basketball Wives” star and executive producer Shaunie O’Neal says the recent firing of three cast members was a decision made by higher ups, and that she learned of their removal when everyone else did, sources close to O’Neal say.

Kesha Nichols, Jennifer Williams and Royce Reed were given their walking papers last week. But O’Neal is telling friends, despite the accusations, the cuts were not made by her and that she was blindsided by the news.

Sources close to O’Neal (who is also an executive producer on the show) says that O’Neal says the production company leaves her in the dark about everything after she butted heads with them over the violent direction the show was headed.

According to the website, O’Neal is upset over the current situation and wants the production company, Shed Media, to know she is willing to walk away from the series if it becomes something she no longer believes in.

Mike Tyson To Appear On Broadway

NEW YORK — Mike Tyson wants his next knockout to be on Broadway.

The former boxer announced Monday that he will team up with director Spike Lee to bring his one-man show, “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth,” to the Longacre Theatre for six nights only, July 31 to Aug. 5.

The show, a raw confessional on the highs and lows of the life of the retired heavyweight and tabloid target, made its debut in April at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

It will mark Lee’s debut as a Broadway director.

Jay-Z Sued Over ‘Decoded’ Book

A man named Patrick White has filed a lawsuit against the “No Church In The Wild” rapper stating that portions of Jay-Z’s Decoded were “stolen” from him.

White’s lawsuit claims that his laptop was stolen in 2009, and that information on his laptop appeared in Jay-Z’s Decoded.

Mr. White alleges that he has tried to contact Jay-Z and Decoded co-author Dream Hampton, but hasn’t heard a word from the music mogul or his co-author.

“The book contains various expressions/colors/phrases, which correlates to my work. After contacting or attempting to contact the co-author, I got no reply.”

Mr. White also claims that his work and the work of Jay-Z are “strikingly” similar and claims his work has been “compromised.”

Patrick White is suing for copyright infringment and invasion of public property.
