Steve Harvey may be excited about there being a sequel to the film adaptation of his successful book, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man, but he’s not going to sign off on just any old script.

The comedian, author, and now daytime talk show host says he’s already vetoed two scripts for the Think Like A Man sequel because it included “buffoonery.”

“They pitched a couple of storylines to me. I’m not sold on any one of them yet. I’d love to duplicate the success of the first one. That’s going to be hard but we’re going to get there.”

“You can’t take my book and turn it into anything close to buffoonery. I’m not ever going to allow that. The book wasn’t about buffoonery. The first movie wasn’t—and it really struck a nerve with men and women—and so the second movie has to be in that same vein.”

Harvey will be back as an executive producer on Think Like a Man 2, with Rob Hardy and Rushion McDonald; St. Pete native, Will Packer is also returning, in a producer capacity.

Russell Simmons is not being shy about his opposition to the Romney-Ryan 2012 ticket. In a blistering post on his Global Grind blog, the hip-hop mogul eviscerated the Republican duo and said they “will destroy our people and laugh all the way to the bank.”

Simmons has unabashedly supported progressive causes and politicians for years.

In picking Ryan, Simmons wrote in a blog post on the Global Grind, Romney made his campaign message clear: “EVERYTHING’S FOR SALE! And all of the money that is made on everything that is sold will be made on the backs of the poor and the working class.”

NEW YORK  — Superstar singer Beyonce has serenaded a different New York City venue: The United Nations.

Beyonce performed her song “I Was Here” on Friday in the UN’s General Assembly Hall in honor of World Humanitarian Day, which is Aug. 19. A music video of the performance will debut the same day.

Beyonce sang in front of hundreds, including Julia Stiles, R&B singer The-Dream and songwriter, Diane Warren, who wrote the song.

Warren said in an interview that she initially called Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, and played the song for him over the phone. He quickly called Beyonce, and days later she recorded it. It appears on her album “4,” released last year.

LOS ANGELES  — Albert Freeman Jr., the veteran actor who played Elijah Muhammad in Spike Lee’s epic film, “Malcolm X,” has died. He was 78.

Howard University confirmed his death Friday night, but details weren’t immediately available. Freeman taught acting there for years and served as chairman and artistic director of its theater arts department.

Freeman earned an NAACP Image Award for playing Malcolm X’s mentor in Lee’s 1992 biography.

He also received an Emmy nomination for his role as Malcolm X in the 1979 miniseries “Roots: The Next Generations.” He won a best-actor Daytime Emmy that year for his work as Capt. Ed Hall on the soap opera “One Life to Live.”

Jada Pinkett Smith continues to deny that her marriage to Will Smith is in turmoil.

Her latest comments are to Essence magazine, which features her on the cover of its September 2012 issue. She insists she can’t even fathom divorce since her husband is “like another part of me.”

“It’s rumored that we’re getting a divorce. But no. We’re not getting a divorce. Where am I going to go? That’s my boo. It’s like he’s another part of me.”

DJ Khaled may be “the best,” but maybe not at paying his bills.

Khaled owes his landlord over $50,000 in unpaid rent, and has yet to settle his debt, which means that an eviction is imminent.

Last September, Khaled rented a Miami apartment from Misci LLC. The agreement was that he would make two payments of $66,000 each. While he handled the first transaction, he failed to cover the entire balance of the second, causing the landlord to file court documents to have him kicked out of the unit.The 36-year-old worked out a new deal to break up the rent into three payments, and shelled over $11,000. He was scheduled to drop the remaining $55,000 a month later.

Misci gave Khaled a three-day notice to vacate the property, of which he reportedly refused. The company is suing to have him removed, and is seeking payment to cover their legal fees, in addition to Khaled’s outstanding rental debt.

After going a year without a having a host, MTV has recruited comedian Kevin Hart for this year’s Video Music Awards.

After suffering a heart attack a month ago, Academy Award nominated actor Michael Clarke Duncan remains in the hospital, but has left the intensive care unit.

The Green Mile star’s girlfriend Omaroasa Manigault-Stallworth has remained by his side, as well as other family and friends.

Forbes magazine has named the hip-hop power couple at the top of their 2012 ‘Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples’ list.

The duo have earned a total of $78 million in the past year. Beyoncé took in $40 million with endorsements, album sales, and royalties, while Jay-Z took in $38 million with his Watch the Throne album sales and tour with Kanye West.  The “Crazy in Love” duo managed to accumulate so much and still took time off for the birth of their first child, daughter, Blue Ivy.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé replaced last year’s highest earning couple, NFL quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, who amassed a total of $72 million this year.

Third on the Forbes list are soccer player David Beckham and wife fashion designer Victoria Beckham, who earned $54 million. Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie are placed at fourth earning $45 million, and rounding out the list of five are Will and Jada Pinkett Smith with $40 million.
