NEW YORK — Robin Roberts says Friday will be her last day co-anchoring “Good Morning America” for a while.
On Monday’s edition of the ABC News wakeup program, Roberts made official the start date for what’s being called her “extended medical leave.”
Roberts told viewers in July that she has MDS, a blood and bone marrow disease once known as preleukemia.
She says she will be hospitalized next week to prepare for the bone marrow transplant that will take place about 10 days after that.

Do you need any more proof that Detox will probably never see the light of day?
Forbes just released their annual list of the highest paid celebrities. Topping the list were: Oprah Winfrey ($165 million), Michael Bay ($160 million), and Steven Spielberg ($130 million).
Surprising to some, Dr. Dre placed 5th on the list by pulling in a whopping $110 million dollars between May 2011 and May 2012. No other Hip-Hop mogul came close. Not Jay-Z, Beyonce, or Diddy.
Dr. Dre cashed out heavily last year when his Beats By Dre headphones company was bought out by HTC for over $300 Million. As Forbes’ Dorothy Pomerantz notes, he did make a good amount of money off of music but it “pales in comparison” to what he made off of his designer headsets.

ATLANTA — Grammy-winning R&B singer Usher has been awarded custody of his two sons, ending a long legal fight with his ex-wife.
A person with knowledge of the decision said a judge ruled Friday that the 33-year-old singer will have primary custody of Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. The person was not authorized to release the information and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, married Tameka Foster Raymond in 2007. They divorced two years later. Tameka Raymond fought for full custody of their sons while Usher initially asked for more visitation rights.

Lil Wayne doesn’t like New York City-gate is officially on day two.
Fuse TV went down to New York State Senator Malcolm Smith’s press conference in Times Square, where the politician demanded an apology from Tunechi for his disparaging remark about NYC (a super quick “Flat out, I don’t like New York,” made in passing).
Fuse also asked Cash Money Records founder and CEO, and rapper, Bryan “Baby” Williams to comment on his numero uno artist’s comment. As expected, Birdman was in total support of his progeny.
“To me, I feel personally, whatever my son say I’ma ride with. If he say he don’t like it, then that’s just what it is. If he don’t like it, we don’t like, I don’t like it if he don’t like it, so…if he say it, that’s law.”

The little girl from Beasts of the Southern Wild has gone Hollywood.
The talent agency ICM Partners has signed Quvenzhane Wallis, the 8-year-old actress who captivated the Sundance and Cannes Film festivals earlier this year starring as Hushpuppy in the Benh Zeitlin-directed drama.
The Louisiana-filmed movie – which was acquired by Fox Searchlight, won the Caméra d’Or award at Cannes and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance – tells the story of 6-year-old Hushpuppy, her ailing father, Wink (Dwight Henry), and a group of resilient people cordoned off from civilization by a large body of water and always fearing the flood that may wash away their lives.
Quvenzhané was selected from over 4,000 young ladies to make her film debut in the lead role.

Lauryn Hill can’t catch a break. Back in June, the former Fugees singer and rapper, who didn’t pay federal taxes on over $1.6M in earnings from 2005 to 2007, plead guilty to tax evasion charges. Now, reports say that Ms. Hill owes her home state of New Jersey more than $440,000 in unpaid taxes.
A civil judgement was filed against Hill on June 14th for exactly $446,386. The “Lost Ones” singer hasn’t been charged, so theoretically she can avoid more legal shenanigans if she pays her tab. As for the federal tax matter, she is scheduled to be sentenced in November and faces up to three years in prison.
Lauryn Hill Passes On Interview With Oprah
Oprah Winfrey may have gotten Rihanna to cry about Chris Brown (within seconds of sitting down for her interview), and even pulled emotion out of 50 Cent on her Oprah’s Next Chapter series, but not every attempt is a success. The talk show queen sought out Lauryn Hill to appear on the show, and has was turned down.
Lady O made the announcement on Twitter after someone asked that she get Hill on the show. “Tried. She said no,” Winfrey wrote.
