Fugees Rapper Pras Sues Director

Fugees Rapper Pras Sues Director

Considering Wyclef Jean’s Yéle Haiti issues and Lauren Hill’s tax troubles, it was only a matter of time before Pras got in on the legal struggle, too.

The third member of the Fugees is suing a director for $70,000+ in money the rapper/producer says he put down a few years ago out of his own pocket to create a documentary about being allegedly kidnapped by Somali pirates.

According to legal docs filed Monday, Pras hired Marshall Tyler back in 2009 to direct a documentary film called “Paper Dreams”— about the rapper’s real-life, death-defying incident with pirates off the East African coast.

In the suit, Pras claims he was “taken captive” by Somali pirates sometime in 2009 — however multiple reports say Pras, and his film crew, merely witnessed the famous capture of the Maersk Alabama in April 2009.

According to his lawsuit, Pras says he put up $70k of his own money to cover filming and travel expenses –but says after the footage was shot, Marshall failed to hand it over.

Katt Williams Slaps Target Cashier In The Face, Escapes On Electric Cart

Katt Williams Slaps Target Cashier In The Face, Escapes On Electric Cart

When Katt Williams is on a roll, that brother is on a roll!

After the funnyman led cops on a wild chase through the streets of Sacramento on a motorized tri-cycle, he apparently had to let off a little steam. And just how did he accomplish that?

By smacking a Target employee in the face.

An eyewitness captured Williams fleeing the scene on an electric cart as the employee calls police.

Charges have not been filed against the comedian at this time.

Williams was allegedly driving a three-wheeled motorcycle on the sidewalk before the Target incident. When police attempted to pull him over, he took off driving erratically in the street, at one point on the wrong side of the road.

Williams reportedly took off his helmet and yelled, “I’m not going to stop!”

Police called off the chase because of public safety and reportedly plan on charging the comedian with felony evasion.

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes List Of Highest Paid Musicians 2012

Dr. Dre Tops Forbes List Of Highest Paid Musicians 2012

Rap icon Dr. Dre was ranked number one on a recently-released Forbes list of the world’s 25 highest paid musicians, after banking an estimated $110 million between May 2011 and May 2012.

The majority of Dr. Dre’s earning power is reported to have come more from the sales of his line of headphones, Beats by Dre, rather than his music.

His long delayed follow-up to his blockbuster album 2001, titled Detox, has yet to be released.

Other musicians that trailed Dre in money made include Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters with $88 million, Sir Elton John with $80 million and popular Irish rock band U2 with $78 million.

Pop star Rihanna, recently off her ’777′ tour, also made the list, landing at No. 12 with $58 million earned.

Sean “Diddy” Combs earned $45 million to tie for the 15th spot with pop star Katy Perry.

On the list are also Beyoncé Knowles with $40 million, her husband Jay-Z with $38 million, and rapper Kanye West shares the No. 22 spot with British crooner Adele at $35 million earned.

No Charges Against Chris Brown In Phone Grab

No Charges Against Chris Brown In Phone Grab

MIAMI — Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown won’t be charged with a crime after a woman claimed he snatched her phone when she tried to take his photo outside a Miami Beach club.

A memo released Friday by the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s office concludes there is no evidence that Brown intended to steal the phone in February or that he deleted the photo. One or the other is necessary for him to be charged.

Prosecutors say that Brown tossed the phone from his limo and that it was picked up by security.

A felony charge against the 24-year-old might have triggered a violation of his probation for his 2009 assault on singer Rihanna, who was his girlfriend at the time. The two have recently collaborated on a new duet.

Stevie Wonder Cancels Concert For Group Funding Israeli Defense Forces

Stevie Wonder Cancels Concert For Group Funding Israeli Defense Forces

WASHINGTON  — Stevie Wonder is calling off a concert for a group that raises money for the Israeli military.

Wonder had been scheduled to perform Dec. 6 for Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, which raises money for Israeli soldiers and their families.

Wonder said the United Nations recommended canceling his performance because he is an official “Messenger of Peace” for the organization. The United Nations overwhelmingly voted to recognize a Palestinian state on Thursday over vehement U.S. and Israeli objections as hopes for Mideast peace talks stalled.

Wonder said in a statement he was canceling with a heavy heart but that “I am and have always been against war, any war, anywhere.”

Tyler Perry Sued For Allegedly Stealing ‘Good Deeds’ Plot

Tyler Perry is being sued for allegedly committing a bad deed.

Author Terri Donald, who wrote under the pen name “TLO RED’ness,” is suing Perry in a federal court, claiming he stole the plot for his 2012 movie Good Deeds from her book. Donald alleges the Madea director based Good Deeds on her 2007 novel Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit.

The official lawsuit states that Donald sent Perry a copy of her book years before production on his film began. The description of Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit does reveal striking similarities to Perry’s film. Donald is seeking $225,000 in damages and also an injunction requiring Tyler Perry Studios to add a credit for her book to the opening and closing credits for Good Deeds.

Perry’s film earned $35 million at the box office after its February release and starred Thandie Newton, Gabrielle Union, Phylicia Rashad and Beverly Johnson.
