Oklahoma City Thunder star, Kevin Durant is on the verge of finalizing a deal to star in a major Warner Bros. film.

The film, which has a basketball subplot, has not yet been named, but it’s scheduled to go into production in mid-September, according to sources. Filming location for the feature-length picture has been narrowed to Oklahoma City and Baton Rouge, La.

Neither Durant nor his representatives could be reached for comment.

The film, however, will mark the biggest off-the-court venture Durant has undertaken in his four-year pro basketball career. It also will solidify Durant’s growing status as a superstar.

WEST LINN, Ore. — Police have searched the Oregon home of Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph to investigate the alleged assault of a man selling marijuana.

The alleged victim tells police that Randolph was not involved in the beating.

The victim tells police he went to Randolph’s home early Saturday morning to sell marijuana. He says at least three people beat him using a pool cue following a dispute over the price of drugs.

The victim was treated for head and face injuries and released from a hospital.

Police say Randolph was in his suburban Portland home at the time of the beating. Rhodes says evidence from the home backs up the victim’s allegations.

Tampa Bay head coach Raheem Morris will treat the third game of the preseason differently than the others. For starters, he actually will game plan for the third game.

Morris is confident the Bucs will play better Saturday against the Miami Dolphins than they did last Thursday in a 31-14 loss to the New England Patriots at Raymond James Stadium.

The Bucs didn’t game plan for the quick-snap offense the Patriots used or their blitz-heavy defense. Morris said that was the biggest reason the Patriots almost ran his team out of their own building.

BEIJING — The Chinese team that got into a nasty brawl with Georgetown University players in an exhibition game went to the Beijing airport Friday to reconcile with them.

A brief statement from Georgetown said coach John Thompson III and two of the team’s players met with representatives of China’s Bayi Rockets following “heated exchanges” in Thursday night’s exhibition game.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai said Bayi members went to Beijing airport to see off the Georgetown team and the sides exchanged souvenirs.

“My understanding is that it’s all cleared up,” Cui told reporters at a briefing on Vice President Joe Biden’s ongoing visit to China. “We’re pleased about this outcome.”

NEW YORK — Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor was declared eligible for Monday’s NFL supplemental draft but must sit out the first five games after he signs a contract.

The NFL announced Thursday he was eligible along with five other players. Pryor gave up his final season with the Buckeyes following an NCAA investigation into the football team’s memorabilia-for-cash scandal.

The league informed clubs that Pryor “made decisions that undermine the integrity of the eligibility rules for the NFL draft.” Among those, the league said, was his failure to cooperate with the NCAA and hiring of an agent in violation of NCAA rules.

Pryor may not practice or play until Week 6 of the NFL season.

PONTIAC, Mich. — ESPN analyst and former NBA player Jalen Rose has been released from a suburban Detroit jail after serving time for drunken driving.

The Oakland County sheriff’s department tells The Associated Press that Rose was released early Thursday from the jail in Pontiac after 16 days behind bars. He reported to jail Aug. 2 to begin a 20-day sentence from a judge who’s known for tough punishments.

Rose’s lawyer, James Burdick, says his client shouldn’t have been sent to jail.

Rose crashed his sports utility vehicle in March after drinking six large martinis. The 38-year-old pleaded guilty in May.

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald have agreed to an eight-year deal that could pay the star receiver as much as $120 million, making it one of the richest deals in the NFL.

The agreement, with guarantees near $50 million, is by far the biggest in the franchise’s history.

Fitzgerald and team president Michael Bidwill appeared at a hastily called news conference Saturday night to announce the agreement.

Fitzgerald insisted he “hates this part of sports,” but he certainly has made a boatload of money. This is the third major contract he has signed, and he doesn’t turn 28 until Aug. 31.

“Growing up, since I was 7 years old, this has been the game I love and something I have been so passionate about,” Fitzgerald said, “and to have to talk about it on the business side is a little bit uncomfortable. But I am really happy to put it behind us and it wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the Bidwill family’s hard work in making this thing happen.”

A Florida boxer has her eyes set on the Summer Olympic Games next year in London.

Ishika Lay wants to be one of three U. S. women to head to London next year where, for the first time, women’s boxing will be an Olympic event. Lay is getting ready for an October tournament in Ohio.

If she wins in her 132 pound weight class, then she’ll go to the Olympic Box-offs in February. A win there will send her to the Games.

Lay trains up to three times a day at Headstrong Gym in Jacksonville Beach. She works the heavy bag, speed bag and her sparring partners are men. Her strategy in the ring, perhaps?

LAS VEGAS — Superstar boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is facing a civil lawsuit from two men who say he orchestrated a shooting attack on them two years ago outside a Las Vegas skating rink.

The lawsuit accuses the undefeated fighter, Ocie Harris and others of making threats since the attack.

Quincey Williams and Damien Bland say in the lawsuit that they want Mayweather and his associates to stop contacting them, plus money for damages. Harris, accused of firing shots at the plaintiffs, has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in the shooting. His trial is scheduled for February.

Mayweather (41-0) is currently training for a Sept. 17 fight against Victor Ortiz.
