ATLANTA — Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw is in custody after being accused of shooting into a woman’s car after using a bat to break its windows. Atlanta police said Thursday that the incident happened Tuesday after the Olympic gold medalist followed 29-year-old Jennifer Lacy to her car. Lacy plays for the Tulsa Shock.

No one was injured. Lacy identified the 35-year-old Holdsclaw, one of the biggest stars in women’s college basketball history during her career at Tennessee, as an ex-girlfriend. They were teammates with the Atlanta Dream in 2009. Holdsclaw was in custody Thursday night in Fulton County Jail. Her bond was set at $10,000 on one charge each of aggravated assault, second-degree criminal damage and reckless conduct.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Thomas Johnson has been found safe in Dallas after being missing from campus since Monday. His mother, Linda Hanks, says A&M University police called her early Thursday to say the 18-year-old has been found unharmed.

Police said Wednesday that Johnson was last seen leaving his College Station residence around 5 p.m. Monday. Hanks said she had traveled from Dallas to College Station as authorities searched for her son. Meanwhile, Johnson turned up 180 miles to the north, in Dallas. Hanks says Johnson has not contacted her since his disappearance and that she had no other information.

It’s a shame last Sunday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneer win over the San Diego Chargers was blacked out locally. But, they will be on the road this Sunday as they face Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.

The Bucs appear to be going in one direction and the Panthers in the other as both teams try to establish consistency. Newton’s rookie year was legendary as he set new rookie records for passing yards and running touchdowns. However, his sophomore season has been full of turmoil and mistakes. The Buccaneer players will go to Carolina hoping to extend their win streak, but they will also be thinking about the future of linebacker, Quincy Black.

Black, 28, was carted off the field last Sunday after tackling running back Ryan Mathews. He was reported as having a neck injury, but no spinal cord damage. There was some complications with his left arm, but he has been released from the hospital.

Head Coach, Greg Schiano, said Black has use of his left arm, but doctors believe there could be nerve damage and are waiting for the swelling to go down before ordering more tests.

DETROIT — Free agent outfielder Torii Hunter has agreed to a two-year deal with the Detroit Tigers. The 37-year-old Hunter hit a career-best .313 last season for the Los Angeles Angels. He’ll be able to fill a corner outfield spot for the AL champion Tigers, taking care of a major offseason priority for Detroit. Hunter hit 16 home runs and had 92 RBIs in 2012. He could also help the Tigers improve their defense as they chase their first World Series title since 1984. Detroit was swept by San Francisco in this year’s series.

IRVING, TX — Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant has agreed to a year of anger management counseling as part of a deal that could lead to the dismissal of a family violence charge over a dispute with his mother. Attorney Royce West said Wednesday that Bryant was already attending anger management sessions, and he said the Dallas County district attorney’s office would dismiss the misdemeanor charge if Bryant stays out of trouble for a year.

ASHBURN, VA — DeAngelo Hall has been fined $30,000 for his confrontation with an official in the Washington Redskins’ loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last month. Hall will not be suspended for the incident late in the Steelers’ 27-12 win Oct. 28.

The Tampa Bay Buccan-eers, winners of 4 of their last five games, made their claim to a playoff spot with a 34-24 victory over the visiting San Diego Chargers Sunday. Former Largo High School quarterback, and Buccaneer cornerback, Leonard Johnson (pictured), showed out in front of his hometown fans when he intercepted a Phillip Rivers pass and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Another new face, cornerback LeQuan Lewis, recorded his first career interception with 3:09 left in the game and setting up Connor Barth for his game-sealing 45-yard field goal. Rivers finished the evening completing 29 of 37 passes for 337 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Buccaneer quarterback, Josh Freeman finished with 14 out of 20 completions for 210 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Running back sensation, Doug Martin, didn’t have a spectacular game, but still finished with 68 yards on 19 carries, and ripped off a 14 yard run during the contest. Buccaneer receivers Dallas Clark and Tiquan Underwood caught touchdown passes from Freeman, while Adam Hayward started things off for the defense in the second quarter when he blocked a punt, and returned it for a touchdown.

With the Buccaneer victory, the Bucs are now 5-4, and a game ahead of the third place New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. The division leading Atlanta Falcons suffered their first loss of the season, pulling the Bucs to within 3 games of the division lead. The Bucs will hit the road next week for a division game against the Carolina Panthers (2-7), who are coming off a loss to the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos.

WARSAW, POLAND — A court in Poland has ordered Mike Tyson to pay $48,000 in compensation to the organizer of a boxing gala for which the former heavyweight champion did not show up last year.

The decision took effect this month after Tyson did not appeal it, and can be executed through European Union regulations on British territory, Judge Igor Tuleya, a spokesman for the Regional Court in Warsaw. The Polish organizer of the gala, Tomasz Babilonski, sued Tyson in March for $48,000 compensation and interest. Babilonski filed the suit because Tyson’s managers were refusing to talk about any compensation.

NEW YORK – The NBA has suspended Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins for two games without pay for confronting San Antonio announcer Sean Elliott in a hostile manner. The exchange followed the Spurs’ 97-86 victory in Sacramento on Friday night.

The volatile Cousins will lose about $70,500 of his $3.9 million salary. Cousins will sit out games at the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday and at home against Portland on Tuesday.

Elliott was a longtime Spurs player who is the team’s primary TV analyst.
