NBA Finals: What To Expect In Celtics-Mavericks Series Starting Thursday Night At 8:30

Celtics-Mavericks Series

One swept, the other swept like gentlemen. It was as if the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks were eager to get on with this and wanted as much prep time as possible before Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals on June 6.

Boston was the NBA’s best team by record all season, running away with the East and claiming home court for as long as they needed it, including this round. Dallas went 50-32, which it’s worth noting would have tied for second in the East with New York. That still was 14 games off the Celtics’ pace, though, and good for only the No. 5 seed in the West.

That had the Mavericks playing from down under to beat the Clippers, the Thunder and the Timberwolves, all while looking more like a title threat at each step. Boston mostly stayed above the fray as favorites, which brought criticism for lone missteps against the Heat and the Cavaliers and allowed some critics to poke at forward Jayson Tatum’s fire.

The Celtics took both games against Dallas this season. They won 119-110 on the Mavericks’ court on Jan. 22, then beat the Mavs again 138-110 on March 1 in Boston. This is Boston’s 23rd trip to the Finals. Dallas has made it twice before, this one coming 13 years after its 2011 upset championship over the first edition of Miami’s “super team”.

Justin Jefferson Agrees To Record-Setting Contract Extension With Vikings

Justin Jefferson

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has finally reset the market at his position.

Jefferson and the Vikings on Monday agreed to a 4-year, $140 million contract extension, according to multiple reports. The deal includes $110 million in guaranteed money and is the richest contract for any non-quarterback in NFL history.

AJ Brown became the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL earlier this offseason when the Philadelphia Eagles gave him a deal worth an average of $32 million per year. Jefferson’s new contract will pay him $35 million per year an

Jake Paul Offered Major Opponent After Cancelling Mike Tyson Fight

Jake Paul Offered Major Opponent After Cancelling Mike Tyson Fight

Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Boxing fans were disappointed to find out that Mike Tyson and Jake Paul‘s hotly anticipated fight was postponed following medical advice over the weekend – but could they be seeing Paul take on someone else instead?

The fight was set to take place on 20 July at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, but now things are set to be moved back to a later date.

It comes after Tyson, 57, became unwell while flying from Miami to Los Angeles and paramedics came onto the plane as it landed.

He suffered an ‘ulcer flare’ and it was later confirmed by Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions that Tyson would not be able to train as a result.

In Tyson’s place, Logan Paul has now offered to fight his brother.

Logan posted a picture of the brothers squaring up to one another, writing: “So Mike Tyson’s out? I’ll step in and we can settle this once and for all.”

PFF Ranks Mike Evans, Chris Godwin Among NFL's Top Wide Receivers

PFF Ranks Mike Evans, Chris Godwin Among NFL’s Top Wide Receivers

Mike Evans, Chris Godwin

Preseason rankings are an offseason tradition in NFL circles. They fill the gap between the draft and actual football and attempt to blend prior knowledge and projection of the coming season. Pro Football Focus took an early stab at these rankings with the top-32 NFL wide receivers, including Mike Evans and Chris Godwin:

Evans came in as the 20th-best receiver while Godwin just made the list at 31. Evans’ ranking is curious if not outright dubious. He tied Tyreek Hill for the most touchdown receptions in the league last season and was top-10 in receiving yards and yards per reception.

By PFF’s own grades, Evans ranked 15th among receivers with at least 90 targets. He also had the highest average depth of target (15) and tied for the second-most contested catches (16).

The receiver he tied with? Chris Godwin. His 2021 ACL tear held him back for most of the 2022 season, and though he receive little fanfare, Godwin was indeed one of the best receivers in the NFL in 2023.

Sha’Carri Richardson

EUGENE, Ore. — Sha’Carri Richardson continued her march toward the Paris Olympics on Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic, winning the women’s 100 meters in 10.83 seconds.

Kenyan Beatrice Chebet s et a world record in the 10,000 meters at the Pre earlier in the day with a time of 28 minutes, 54.14 seconds, while American Christian Coleman won the day’s other notable event, the men’s 100, in a season-best 9.95.

But the spotlight was on the battle between Richardson, the 2023 world champion, and Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah, the reigning Olympic gold medalist in both the 100 and 200 meters.

Thompson-Herah faded at the Pre, finishing last in the field of nine. The charismatic Richardson, wearing her long hair tied back in a ponytail, muscled her way to the finish and dramatically pushed off the tape remnants.

Deion's Son Shilo Sanders Facing Legal Mess After Filing For Bankruptcy

Deion’s Son Shilo Sanders Facing Legal Mess After Filing For Bankruptcy

Shilo Sanders

Colorado football safety Shilo Sanders has been facing questions in court about his personal income and wealth after filing for bankruptcy last October with more than $11 million in debt, according to court records obtained by USA TODAY Sports.

The debt stems primarily from what a court in Texas says he owes to a security guard at his former school ? a man who claimed Sanders assaulted him in 2015 and gave him severe and permanent injuries, including “neurological injuries and damage to his cervical spine.” The security guard, John Darjean, sued Sanders for damages from this incident and won a $12 million judgment against him after Sanders failed to show up for trial in 2022.

Sanders, son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, filed for bankruptcy as a result in an effort to discharge this debt. But Darjean is still trying to collect on his judgment against Sanders and has raised questions in court about Shilo Sanders’ earnings from name, image and likeness (NIL) deals in college.

“Shilo is the honest but unfortunate debtor looking to get his fresh start in life, free from the oppressive burden of his debts, including the default judgement to the Plaintiff,” Shilo Sanders’ attorney wrote in a court filing in February.
