Quincy Wilson

American track star Quincy Wilson’s fall is going to be a lot worse than his summer.

The 16-year-old, who won gold at the 4×400-meter relay in Paris, posted a picture with his medal last Saturday, lamenting that he would soon have to go back to high school.

“Dang, I really got school in two and a half weeks,” Wilson wrote on X, adding a broken heart emoji.

Wilson, who attends the Bullis School in Maryland, became the youngest male track and field athlete to compete in the Olympics when he helped Team USA qualify for the 4×400-meter relay final.

He didn’t run on Saturday, but got gold as part of the team that ran in heats.

Mike Evans Reveals He Thought About Joining Chiefs in Free Agency

Mike Evans Reveals He Thought About Joining Chiefs in Free Agency

Mike Evans

Following their Super Bowl LVIII win over the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ focus shifted to revamping the top half of their wide receiver room. General manager Brett Veach undoubtedly weighed plenty of options, ultimately landing on Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency and Xavier Worthy in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Apparently, there was almost another choice on the table for the back-to-back champs. Five-time Pro Bowler Mike Evans recently admitted that had he ended up on the free agent market, Kansas City was at or near the top of his list of teams to join.

Speaking to NFL Network at Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp, Evans explained that he’s a huge fan of how Patrick Mahomes plays. That factored into the Chiefs being a franchise that piqued the former first-round pick’s interest.

“I mean, I’ve been here my whole career,” Evans said. “And that was a goal of mine, honestly. I mean, in the back of my mind, I’m thinking Houston, Kansas City – I love Pat Mahomes’s game. I’m thinking those two teams, obviously, and I’m obviously thinking the Bucs. It would’ve been extremely hard, if I hit free agency, to leave here. This is where my family knows, my kids were born here, my wife’s been here a long time – she doesn’t want to pack it up and move everything. So really, her decision is the reason why I decided to stay. She loves this place and I obviously love this place but when she gave me the go-ahead like, ‘We should stay here,’ no-brainer.”

While six-times world champion Noah Lyles’ brash, showman side was on display in the popular Netflix docuseries “SPRINT,” there is a softer, more vulnerable aspect to the 27-year-old American who needs to have his own space.

The show’s popularity, however, has made life in the Olympic Village miserable for Lyles, one of the Paris Games’ most visible athletes.

“Apparently the world loves “SPRINT” and athletes do too, and I’ve become kind of popular in the village,” Lyles said at the U.S. athletics team’s press conference on Monday.

“Unfortunately, that has come with its own set of challenges. I’m not even the most popular person in the village, so I know I’m not the only one who’s had to deal with this.

“Even though some might be superstars in your eyes, we still are human beings, and we do want to be able to have our space and our time,” he added.

Track and Field starts Thursday.

Ex-Super Bowl Hero Jacoby Jones Dies At 40; Cause Unknown

Ex-Super Bowl Hero Jacoby Jones Dies At 40; Cause Unknown

Jacoby Jones

Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones has died.

Multiple reporters shared the news last Sunday that Jones has died at the age of 40. The cause of death was not immediately known, but several of Jones’ ex-teammates and other players shared tributes to the former third-round draft pick.

Jones is best known for the major impact he made during the Ravens’ Super Bowl run in 2012. He caught a 70-yard, game-tying touchdown pass from Joe Flacco with under a minute remaining in the AFC Divisional Round playoffs against the Denver Broncos. The play later became known as the “Mile High Miracle.”

Jones also made a legitimate case to win MVP of Super Bowl XLVII when he caught a 56-yard touchdown and returned the opening kick of the second half 108 yards for a score in Baltimore’s 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

In addition to the Ravens, Jones also played for the Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers across nine NFL seasons from 2007-2015. He also spent a season with the Monterrey Steel of the National Arena League in 2017.

NFL Star Terrell Davis Says He Was Handcuffed, Escorted off United flight after Trying To Get Ice For His Son

NFL Star Terrell Davis Says He Was Handcuffed, Escorted off United flight after Trying To Get Ice For His Son

Terrell Davis

Former NFL running back Terrell Davis says he was recently “humiliated” after an interaction with a United Airlines flight attendant led to him being handcuffed and removed from the aircraft in front of his wife and children.

On July 15, the 51-year-old former Denver Broncos player described in an Instagram post how his son’s request for a cup of ice from a flight attendant led to the football player being escorted off of a United Airlines flight from Denver to Orange County.

He said the incident occurred July 13 while he was traveling with his wife, Tamiko Nash, their two sons and their daughter.

“During the beverage service, my son politely requested a cup of ice,” Davis recalled. “The flight attendant either didn’t hear or ignored his request and continued past our row.”

Davis said he attempted to get the flight attendant’s attention for his son by “calmly” reaching back to “lightly” tap his arm.

“His response and the subsequent events were shocking,” Davis continued, recalling how the attendant accused the football player of becoming physical and shouting, “Don’t hit me.”

“I was confused, as were the passengers in front of me who witnessed the exchange,” Davis’s statement continued. “I thought nothing of it other than this particular employee was incredibly rude and blatantly wrong in his accusations of me hitting him.”

Davis noted that there were no other interactions with the attendant for the remainder of the flight. However, when the flight landed in Orange County, he said six FBI and law enforcement agents boarded the flight and approached his seat.

United Airlines says it has “removed the flight attendant from duty” while the situation is being investigated.

Lions To Induct Ex-WR Calvin Johnson Into Pride Of Lions

Lions To Induct Ex-WR Calvin Johnson Into Pride Of Lions

Calvin Johnson

The Detroit Lions announced Monday that Calvin Johnson will be added to the team’s Pride of the Lions, further signaling a repairing of the team’s relationship with the Hall of Fame wide receiver.

Johnson, 38, will be honored at halftime of the Sept. 30 game between the Lions and Seattle Seahawks on “Monday Night Football.”

There had been a rift between Johnson and the Lions after the team asked Johnson to repay $1.6 million of the signing bonus he had been given at the start of his last contract after he retired following the 2015 season. However, the Lions have worked to mend their relationship with Johnson the past few years.

Titans Agree To Deal With Former Seahawks Safety Jamal Adams

Titans Agree To Deal With Former Seahawks Safety Jamal Adams

Jamal Adams

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a deal with free agent safety Jamal Adams, the team announced last Thursday.

A seven-year veteran, Adams spent the past four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before he was released March 5.

Tennessee currently has Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden listed as its starting safeties. Adams will compete for one of the starting spots when camp opens July 23.

The Seahawks parted with two first-round picks to acquire Adams from the New York Jets in 2020 — one of the biggest swings of the John Schneider/Pete Carroll era — and then made him the NFL’s highest-paid safety a year later with a four-year, $70 million extension.
