TAMPA HOUSING AUTHORITY RECOGNIZES ITS ‘STARS’ OF HOUSING WITH LUNCHEON

 

The Tampa Housing Authority (THA) hosted a ‘Stars’ Of Public Housing Luncheon on Monday, July 28, 2014. The luncheon was held at the Intercontinental Hotel. The luncheon was to recognize the former residents who have made strides on the road to success, have become community leaders and role models for housing residents. Tampa City Council Chair, Charlie Miranda, gave the keynote address. Paul Ausley, Principal Management Official for HUD Jacksonville, was the master of ceremonies. 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SIGNING OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT CELEBRATED

Earlier this month, the Hillsborough County Office of Community Affairs, the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the City of Tampa partnered to commemorate one of the nation’s most important historical milestones: the 50th Anniversary of the Signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Scheduled speakers for the event were: State Representative Alan B. Williams, District 8, Florida Legislative Black Caucus, Chairman; Delano S. Stewart, PA, first Florida attorney with an integrated law practice; and John Schmelzer, Acting Director of Field Coordination Programs, EEOC, Washington, DC. Among those in attendance at the John F.
