SORORITY HOSTS COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 

The Beta Sigma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated hosted more than 100 children for its Community Christmas Celebration. The sorority reached out to community partners to help with supplying a few toys for boys and girls, 4-12 years old. Those who attended the event on the grounds of the Zeta House located at 2605 E. 21st Ave. enjoyed refreshments, music, games, dancing and singing. These members of the sorority who welcomed community guests were: seated, Sylvia Myrick, Irene C. Johnson and Dr. Elaine Lee. The Senior Women’s Mission Ministry at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Larry L. Roundtree, II, Pastor, held its Christmas Dinner on Monday, December 7th during its monthly meeting. The women enjoyed great food and fellowship. With the addition of several members to this ministry, the women took time to update the organization’s photograph. GROUND BROKEN FOR NEW PAVILION AT ST. PETER CLAVER CATHOLIC SCHOOL

 

 

 

It has been more than 50 years since ground was broken at St. Peter Claver Catholic School for a major project. It was in the 1960s when the annex was added onto the school. Under the theme, “Good things are happening at St. Peter Claver,” last Monday, December 7, 2015, ground was broken to build an outdoor pavilion on the school’s property. The Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated recognized its oldest, longest active member during a luncheon last Saturday. The recognition was part of the chapter’s 75th Jubilee Celebration. Mrs. Nancy Butler Andrews, seated, received the recognition. She has been continuously active in the chapter for approximately 50 years. The Sentinel received a plaque for being a Community Partner. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback, Doug Williams was inducted into the Bucs’ Ring of Honor on Sunday during halftime of the game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was the second player inducted this season. The induction capped a weekend of events held in his honor hosted by Atty. Barry Cohen and Company.
