SOUTHWESTERN JURISDICTION COGIC HOSTS 50th HOLY CONVOCATION

Bishop Matthew Williams, Jurisdictional Prelate, General Board Member, COGIC and Pastor, Brown Memorial COIGIC, and his congregation hosted the 50th Anniversary of the Southwestern Jurisdiction COGIC Holy Convocation. 4th ANNUAL SUIT UP AND SHOW UP INITIATIVE HELD

The   Corporation To Develop Communities of Tampa (CDC), Inc. held its 4th Annual “Suit Up and Show Up” Initiative on Friday, February 24th.. The event was held at the Hillsborough Community College Ybor Campus, 2001 N. 14th Street, in the Student Services Building. Each young man who attended the event received a business suit. Links At The Movies

RADIANT JEWELS AT VAN BUREN MIDDLE SCHOOL TAKEN TO VIEW MOVIE ‘HIDDEN FIGURES’

The teen group mentored by the Tampa Chapter of the Links, Inc., the Radiant Jewels at Van Buren Middle School were treated to a field trip to see the movie, ‘Hidden Figures’ recently. The Tampa Links financed the field trip, and thanks to the management at Movie Studio Grill at University Mall, who opened the theater 2 hours early, as well as had staff come in to serve the teens lunch, the Radiant Jewels got the ultimate experience.

The Radiant Jewels who are  all 8th graders, have been mentored in the STEAM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum by the Links since the beginning of the school year. The STEAM curriculum was developed and has been facilitated by The Arts facet chair and co-chair, Links Casey Curry and Kendra Frorup. The movie was an extension to the training about how the Arts mix with STEM to create most things in the world. The teens were required to write an essay about the movie.

‘STOP THE VIOLENCE’ GOSPEL CONCERT AT NEW HOPE M.B. CHURCH

Pastor Al Baldwin was the Master of Ceremonies for the ‘Stop The Violence’ Gospel Concert Night at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Rev, Larry Mouton, Jr., Because of the number of violent incidents among young people that have been occurring, the community was invited to attend the event on Friday, January 20, 2017, to enjoy some gospel music.
