MEN OF VISION ALUMNI ATTEND AWARDS CEREMONY 

Ross Anderson, Founder of the Men of Vision, Inc., held the organization’s 11th Annual Academic Achievement Ceremony & Mother’s Day Celebration on May 12th. It was held in the Auditorium of Blake High School. The event is designed t0 recognize the academic success of the young members and their mothers who provided support for the young men. In addition to celebration of the upcoming graduation of 20 members, several alumni were present at the event. Hillsborough County Judge Daryl Manning was the Keynote Speaker and Rod Carter, Anchor for Channel 8 Weekend News, was the Master of Ceremony. Members of the Men of Vision Alumni who attended the ceremony were from left to right: Chris Webb, Class of 2013; Elvin Bowen, Class of 2015; Wildens Cajuste, Class of 2014; Jamal Lark, Class of 2013; Marquavius Hamilton, Class of 2015; Ross Anderson, Founder;  DeVonta McCall, Renaldo James, and Judd Barthelemy, (all members of the (Class of 2012); Timothy Nobles, Class of 2013; and James Eliassaint- Anderson, Class of 2012. TAMPA POLICE DEPARTMENT’S BLACK HISTORY COMMITTEE AWARDS $10,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

The Tampa Police Department Black History Committee recently presented $10,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors to help them financially as they pursue their educational endeavors. The 2017 award recipients represent both public and private schools in Hillsborough County. Each of the 10 recipients received a $1,000 scholarship. The 2017 award recipients are from left to right: Brianna Blake, Leah Jenkins, Armand Chalk, Lamine Diagne, Gabriella Badmus, Dimitri Pun, Chief Eric Ward, Stephanie Febus, Davis Dees and Janay Jefferson. TRACK TEAM CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL SEASON

TRACK TEAM CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL SEASON 

Members of the TrackStarz Track Club celebrated their success during the FHSAA Track finals. The students, who are students at various high schools throughout Hillsborough County, gathered at the Olive Garden Restaurant for the celebration. The youngsters were encouraged to continue to strive for excellence individually as well as a member of the team. The celebration took place on May 10th. Some of those in attendance at the celebration were on the front row: Zayne Jack and Coach Roosevelt Cooper. Among the colleges and universities with representatives in attendance were: Spelman College, Bethune-Cookman University, Florida A&M University, Hillsborough Community College, Cheyney University, Edward Waters College, and Florida Memorial University. These members of the Blake High School Urban Teaching Academy who assisted with the event are: Ayanna Anderson, Chaya Baptiste, Jael Baptiste, Alana Blocker, Julissa Flores, Samiyah Thomas and Derricka Whyte. Boy Scout Troop 654 of St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church held its Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Marcus Wynn and Serion Bellamy. The ceremony was held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. John Progressive M. B. Church. The Master of Ceremony was Dexter Fleming, who also gave the Eagle Scout Charge and conducted the Lighting of the Eagle Trail Ceremony.
