MEN OF VISION HONORS ‘LEGENDS AND GAMECHANGERS’
Recently, the Men of Vision, Inc., Service ogranization held its 12th Annual Academic Awards Ceremony at TPepin Hospitality Centre. More than 100 members of the organization were recognized, including 44 graduating seniors for their academic and community service. The young men were the recipients of more than $20,000 in scholarships. Alumni member Wildens Cajuste, Class of 2016, and recent graduate of Florida A & M University, delivered the Keynote Address. Members of the community who were honored as “Legends and Gamechangers” in attendance were, from left to right: James Cole; Henry “Shake” Washington, retired School Administrator; retired Tampa Police Chief Eric Ward; Thomas Forward, recently retired Tampa Fire Chief; and Jeff Eakins, Hillsborough County School District Superintendent. Ross Anderson, Community & Educational Advocate Liaison, Strategy Management Team, of the Hillsborough County School District, and founder of Men of Vision, Inc., is shown, fourth from the left.

MRS. DELORES ‘DEE’ WILLIAMS CELEBRATES 80thBIRTHDAY
Mrs. Delores “Dee” Williams was the guest of honor recently when family and friends hosted an 80thbirthday celebration for her. The event was held at the Seminole Heights Family Life Center. Planners for the event were her daughters: Antionette Shepherd and Adriane Blanchett. GEORGE S. MIDDLETON HIGH SCHOOL HONOR GRADUATES
These proud Middleton High School Honor graduates are all-smiles after they received their diplomas on May 25that the Florida State Fairgrounds. They were among approximately 420 students to graduate from Middleton. The Valedictorians were: Magnet, Aashish Thoutam and Traditional, Taylor Dansby. KRUNK FOR CHRIST HOSTS 3RD ANNUAL MOTHER’S DAY BANQUET
Krunk For Christ held its 3rdAnnual Mother’s Day Banquet Extravaganza on the eve of Mother’s Day. The event was held in the Life Center of New Hope M. B. Church. TAMPA CITY COUNCIL PRESENTS COMMENDATION TO RETIRING FIRE CHIEF
Thursday morning, the Tampa City Council presented a commendation and plaque to retiring Fire Chief, Tom Forward, for his 35 years of service to the community. Chief Forward officially retires on May 20, 2018. AARON’S HOUSE FOUNDER HOSTS 3RDANNUAL FUNDRAISER
Attorney Pamela Robinson hosted the 3rdAnnual Fundraiser for Aaron’s House on Sunday, May 6th. The event was held at the Rusty Pelican Restaurant and the theme was “A Dining Room Of Hope.” The guest speaker was Tampa Bay Times columnist, Ernest Hooper. Aaron’s House was founded as a 501(c)3 organization to provide temporary housing for family members and caregivers of those in need of supportive services and peer-to-peer support. Atty. OPENING CEREMONY HELD FOR WARREN HOPE DAWSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Opening Ceremony for Warren Hope Dawson Elementary School in Riverview was held on Saturday, April 28th. The school opened its doors to more than 500 students in August of 2017. Attorney Dawson, a native of Mulberry, Florida, and graduate of Florida A&M University, served as an officer in the U. S. Army. He returned to school after his military stint and earned his law degree from Howard University, School of Law, graduating in 1966. The Civil Rights attorney became the first African American to practice in federal court in Tampa. Attorney Dawson is best known for his role as lead counsel for the plaintiffs in the now famous 1974 lawsuit known as Manning vs. the School Board of Hillsborough County.Attorney Dawson, right, is shown with Superintendent Jeff Eakins.
