COLLEGE AND YOUTH DAY OBSERVED AT ALLEN TEMPLE A. M. E. CHURCH
Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church held its College and Youth Day observance recently. The guest speaker was recent FAMU graduate, Briana Robinson. Briana used for her scripture, Ephesians 3:20. FLORIDA BAR SWEARING-IN CEREMONY HELD
FOR FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Recently, family members, friends were on hand for the swearing-in ceremony of former State Representative Edwin Narain. The ceremony was conducted by the Honorable Judge Barbara Twine-Thomas at the Hillsborough County Courthouse, 401 N. Jefferson Street, on Friday, November 16, 2018. 43RD ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOR THE ASSOCIATION
FOR THE STUDY OF HIGHER EDUCATION HELD
Recently, more than 150 seniors had the opportunity to network with representatives from some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation. This year, Tampa hosted the 43rdAnnual Conference for the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). The students took part in a series of workshops throughout the day at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Downtown Tampa. Several members of Men of Vision, Inc., were among those who took part in the event: Demetrius Harris, Middleton High School; Darrin Harris, Middleton High School; Ms. Minerva Spanner-Morrow, Chief Diversity Officer, Hillsborough County School District; Dave Dehue, Morehouse University; Devin Johnson, Tampa Bay Technical High School; and Tyshawn Hatch, Middleton High School. KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY HOSTS SUCCESSFUL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The men of the Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., are pleased with the success of their recent golf tournament. The event was held at Rogers Park Golf Course with more than 90 participants. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the scholarship fund. CDC OF TAMPA, INC. ‘CHAMPIONS LUNCHEON’ WAS ONE OF MOST SUCCESSFUL
The Corporation to Develop Communities (CDC) of Tampa, Inc. held its major fundraiser last month. The ‘Champions Luncheon’ was held at TPepin Hospitality Centre. More than 400 corporate and community partners were in attendance, attributing to the success of the event. Some of those who participated on the program were: Senator (Atty.) Darryl Rouson, Ernest Coney, Jr., CEO of CDC of Tampa, Inc.; Congresswoman Kathy Castor, Steve Glaude, Keynote Speaker; Chloe Coney, Founder of CDC of Tampa, Inc.; Rich Black, of Onyx Magazine; Carla Williams, HART representative; and Dr. Samuel L. MIDDLETON HIGH CLASS OF 1971 CELEBRATES 65th BIRTHDAY
