      Family members and friends of the late Wayne Anthony Quin, Ph.D., gathered at Gary Adult High School on December 16, 2024, for the room dedication in his honor. Gary Adult High School was his last assignment with the Hillsborough County School District.       Several students representing a variety of Hillsborough County Schools as members of Men of Vision, Inc., were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom.  Their honors went across the spectrum, from Honor Roll to High Honor Roll, and Principal’s Honor Roll. Hillsborough High School recently held its National Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Among the inductees were 6 members of Men of Vision. They are: Quante Miltier-Ferguson, Bryan Harden, Jaden Carr, Maltius Morrissey, Ishmon Johnson and Jeremiah Sank.

WILBERT DAVIS BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB HOSTS ‘LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL’

  

        The Wilbert Davis Boys and Girls Club was the recent site of “Lights On AfterSchool.”  Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year. Among those at Wilbert Davis B&G Club recently were: Dwaine Terry (D.         On October 4, 2024, the Hillsborough County Historical Advisory Council revealed a historic marker at Rogers Park Golf Course, in honor of the first Black golf course in Tampa.  Gathered for the special recognition were Alison Smith, Chair, Hillsborough County Advisory Council, Joseph W. J. Robison, Tampa Sports Authority Board member, Gwen Myers, Hillsborough County Commissioner, James Ransom, grandson of G.D.         Members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. joined Commissioner Gwen Myers, Mayor Jane Castor and other groups as they served hot meals on Sunday, October 13, after Hurricane Milton.
