MORE THAN 300 ATTEND ANNUAL INTERFAITH SERVICE
The 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Service was held on the King Holiday. The service was held at Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Commemorative Planning Committee was pleased with the turnout of more than 300. KICK-OFF RECEPTION FOR 2019 CONFERENCE
The Conference of Minority Transportation Official (COMTO) kick-off reception was held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. The reception was held at the Tampa Club and is the kick-off to the conference that will meet in Tampa July 12-16, 2019. ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INC. OBSERVES FOUNDERS’ DAY
The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated observed its Founders’ Day by worshipping together on Sunday, January 20, 2019. The organization was founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University. The women gathered at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for the 11 a. m. worship experience. ENJOYING THE TAMPA BAY BLACK HERITAGE STREET FESTIVAL
The Tampa Bay Black Heritage Street Festival was held Saturday and Sunday, January 19th and 20th, in the Curtis Hixon Wa- terfront Park. On Saturday, the park was filled with crowds enjoying the weather, activities and good food. Midnight Star, CeCe Peniston and other R&B artists were on the stage Saturday. The Street Festival concluded on Sunday with the Gospel Fest. CHURCH, PASTOR CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY
The Pastor and Church Family of Re-Birth Missionary Baptist Church are celebrating their 25thAnniversary. Services for the Silver event began Sunday morning, January 13th, with Dr. Norman Harris, Attorney, as the 10:15 a. m. speaker. SWEARING IN CEREMONY HELD FOR NEWLY ELECTED NAACP MEMBERS
Recently, members of the Hillsborough County Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, NAACP, held a swearing in ceremony for its newly elected officers. The event was at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and was conducted by Leon Russell, Chairman of the National NAACP Board of Directors. Mr. Russell, of St. Petersburg, has served as a member of the NAACP Board of Directors for the past 27 years. This was the first time in several years that the organization held an official swearing in ceremony. JINGLE BELL BAZAAR AT YBOR WAS FUN EVENT
Jingle Bell Bazaar At Ybor was a Holiday Shopping Bazaar hosted by L’Diva Couture Boutique. Linda Archie is the owner. The Holiday Bazaar, held on December 16th, had 70 small business vendors, local artists, food vendors, direct sales vendors, financial advisors and eight local on-line boutiques participating. Live entertainment was held throughout the day. In Santa’s Village, Santa took pictures with the kids and gave out goodies. There was also a fashion show, hosted by L’Diva Couture Boutique. Marcia S. Clark-Derico was the Fashion Show Coordinator.
