LINE DANCERS GATHER FOR WORKSHOP
Prior to the ‘Stay-At-Home’ orders from the City and County, a group of ladies gathered in March at the Hilton Hotel – Lois Avenue for a workshop. The group was preparing for their busy spring and summer events. JAMEIS WINSTON DONATES $30,000 TO CDC TO HELP LOCAL RESTAURANTS
Jameis Winston donated $30,000 to the Corporation to Develop Communities (CDC) of Tampa, Inc. The funds are distributed to 8 area restaurants that will prepare 500 meals each over 4 weekends, concluding on May 23, 2020. The first events were Saturday, May 2nd at Open Café in East Tampa and Konan’s BBQ in the Carver City/Lincoln Gardens community. FEEDING THE COMMUNITY DURING THE CORONAVIRUS
Some chefs and businessowners came together on Saturday, April 18, 2020, to distribute meals to the community. They wore their masks and gloves and were distanced from the people. Brown’s Catering set up its catering service on the corner of 26th Street and 12th Ave., and passed out meals to anyone who came up. JAMEIS WINSTON, TITUS O’NEIL DONATE $50,000 TO METROPOLITAN MINISTRIES
Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jameis Winston teamed with WWE star Titus O’Neil (Thaddeus Bullard of the Bullard Foundation) to donate $50,000 to Metropolitan Ministries. Bullard and Winston were joined by the Superintendent and members of the School District of Hillsborough County on Tuesday, April 21, as they distributed food boxes at Sligh Middle Magnet School. RETIRES AFTER 30 YEARS IN THE TRUCKING BUSINESS
Franko Malane celebrated his retirement recently with family and friends at the Oldsmar Center Hall. Malane retired from his own business after 30 years in the long-distance truck driving business. His partner in the business is Zorrie Caves. STUDENT COMPLETES WEEK AS POLITICAL PAGE
During the first week in February, a Tampa honor student visited Tallahassee for a week. Miss Ava S. Hargrett was given the opportunity to experience government at work serving as a Page for the Florida Legislature. As a constituent of State Representative Fentrice Driskell, Ava was chosen to participate in the Page/Messenger Program. During her visit, Ava authored and presented a Mock Bill as part of the legislative exercises in which the youngsters participated. In this photograph, Ava is shown with her grandfather, Senator James Hargrett, Jr., who served as her chaperone during her visit, Ava, and State Representative Fentrice Driskell.

PASTOR AND MEMBERS SPEND TIME WITH HOMELESS POPULATION
Superinteendent Charles Davis, Pastor of College Hill Church of God in Christ, and several members from the church, visited a local park recently to feed the homeless. The group not only shared physical food, but they distributed literature and invited those at the park to visit with them as they assemble for worship. SERVING OTHERS DURING ‘A DAY OF LOVE’
After studying Rick Warren’s ’40 Days in the Word’ Bible Study Devotional, ‘A Day Of Love’ was created. ‘A Day of Love,’ in partnership with Esther’s Place and Malachi 597, ventured into Borrell Park last month. This group of adults and children ministered to God’s children, served food, and gave out clothing and hygiene bags.
