Black Man Convicted Of Mailing Noose To Interracial Couple

Black Man Convicted Of Mailing Noose To Interracial Couple

Earlier this month, it was revealed that interracial marriages have reached an all-time high, but some people still take issue with the notion that love has no color.

A couple in Detroit comprised of a Black man and white woman received a noose in the mail, alongside photos of people being lynched, for their colorblind love.

What’s even more shocking is the fact that the man who sent the items is not only Black himself, but “allegedly” holds a PhD. “When I opened the letter up, first thing I saw was a noose,”

Carl Smith said. “I opened it up further and it was like four pages of hate mail. People being hung, black guys, Nicole [Brown] Simpson getting her throat cut, and I was terrified.”

Smith and his wife, Susan, contacted the FBI who requested that they send the items over. Upon further investigation detectives were able to find DNA on the noose, which allowed them to pinpoint the culprit.

Glenn E. Morgan Jr., 41, of Detroit, and founder of the National Black Men’s Education Association, was identified for committing the crime. Despite the fact that no one has ever even really heard of his alleged association.

Folks Nation Gang Leader Nabbed By The Feds In Brooklyn

A reported Folks Nation gang leader that was wanted for his role in a series of gang hits was arrested in his girlfriend’s basement in Brooklyn where he was hiding out.

Devon Rodney allegedly ordered members of the Folks Nation to carry out hits on rival gangs and robberies spanning four states.

Rodney’s gang has also been tied to a spat of crime sprees that plagued the Houses Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, with seven members of the group charged with murder, robbery and a list of other offenses. Prosecutors say Rodney had been trying to discover if any of his Folks Nation gang members were working with the authorities ahead of his arrest.

Pres. Obama Downsizes American Dream For Election?

Pres. Obama Downsizes American Dream For Election?

WASHINGTON — This time around, President Barack Obama’s message can sound decidedly down-to-earth.

Four years after winning the White House, Pres. Obama is dealing with a different economic and political reality as he seeks re-election. He’s focused less on a lofty vision for overcoming divisions and remaking Washington, and more on the most basic building blocks of middle-class economic security: a job, a house, a college education for the kids, health care, money for retirement.

What Pres. Obama describes as the American Dream can seem a spare, fundamental aspiration, tailored for a campaign that looks to be fought over who is best equipped to safeguard the interests of middle-class Americans.

Santorum Aide: Pres. Obama Has ‘Radical Islamic Policies’

Santorum Aide: Pres. Obama Has ‘Radical Islamic Policies’

In an interview on MSNBC, Alice Stewart, spokesperson for GOP hopeful Rick Santorum, said that President Barack Obama encouraged “radical Islamic policies” and that his agenda was driven by “phony theology.” After the interview, she said that she “mis-spoke” and called the network to apologize.

“There is a type of theological secularism when it comes to the global warmists in this country. That’s what he was referring to. He was referring to the president’s policies in terms of the radical Islamic policies the president has,” Stewart said on “Andrea Mitchell Reports” in defense of Santorum’s remarks made at a rally in Ohio on Saturday.
Stewart did the old Beltway Two-Step and backed away from the statement, saying that it was just a big mistake and that she really meant to say “radical environmental policies” — and Mitchell came to her defense:

She had repeatedly said during that same interview ‘radical environmental policies’ and she said she slipped when she apparently said [it],” Mitchell said.

White Teacher Sues To Use N-Word In Class

White Teacher Sues To Use N-Word In Class

CHICAGO – A 48-year-old Chicago public school teacher used the “n-word” as part of a lesson on the perils and pitfalls of racism, and it landed him a five-day suspension from his job. The teacher is fighting back, filing a federal lawsuit against the district and claiming that his civil rights have been violated.

Lincoln Brown, a 21-year veteran teacher and native of Chicago’s Hyde Park, used the word in his sixth grade classroom at Murray Language Academy on Oct. 4, 2011 after discovering a note that female student was passing had the slur written on it as apart of some rap lyrics. Brown, who is white, used the note as an opportunity to teach lesson about racism in the context of Huckleberry Finn.

Pres. Obama Has $250 Million For General Election

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama pulled in $29.1 million for his re-election campaign and the Democratic Party in January, raising his total for this election cycle to about $250 million.

The sum, announced Friday, shows he’s picked up the pace from his $23 million-a-month average of the final three months of last year.

Financial reports released Friday show roughly $11.8 million in contributions to Pres. Obama’s campaign, as well as an additional $13.4 million to the Pres. Obama Victory Fund, a joint venture of his campaign and the DNC. The remaining sum of contributions would come from contributions to the DNC and the campaign’s Swing State Victory Fund.

Congress Sends Payroll Tax Cut Bill To Pres. Obama

WASHINGTON — Congress on Friday approved legislation renewing a payroll tax cut for 160 million workers and jobless benefits for millions more, backing the main items on President Barack Obama’s jobs agenda in a rare burst of Washington bipartisanship.

The Senate approved the $143 billion measure on a bipartisan 60-36 vote minutes after the House approved it by a sweeping 293-132 vote. Pres. Obama is expected to sign it shortly after returning from a West Coast fundraising swing.

Under the bill, workers would continue to receive a 2 percentage point increase in their paychecks, and people out of work for more than six months would keep jobless benefits averaging about $300 a week, steps that Pres. Obama says will help support a fragile recovery from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

It would also head off a steep cut in reimbursements for physicians who treat Medicare patients.

Governor Scott Signs Florida’s Congressional Redistricting Plan

Governor Scott Signs Florida’s Congressional Redistricting Plan

Gov. Rick Scott signed the Legislature’s plan to redraw the state’s congressional districts Thursday, likely paving the way for more lawsuits surrounding the once-a-decade redistricting process.

Scott’s office quietly announced the move in the afternoon without comment. A letter from Scott to Secretary of State Kurt Browning simply said the bill (SB 1174) had been signed.

The signing was expected; Scott was largely hands-off during the redistricting process and hadn’t given any signs he might veto the plan.

But the measure has already been challenged by the Florida Democratic Party in court, and a coalition of voting-rights groups said after the Senate gave the maps final approval that they would follow suit pending Scott’s signature.
