Black Journalist Suspended For Saying Mitt Romney Is “Comfortable” Around ‘White Folks’

Black Journalist Suspended For Saying Mitt Romney Is “Comfortable” Around ‘White Folks’

A White House correspondent for the website Politico.com, has been reprimanded for making racially tinged comments about Mitt Romney, Thursday. Joe Williams was discussing Romney’s immigration views on MSNBC, and when prodded about the presidential hopeful’s lack of connection with Hispanic voters, gave a politically incorrect response. “It’s very interesting that he does so many appearances on Fox & Friends, but it also points out a larger problem that he’s got to solve if he wants to be successful come this fall.

“Romney is very, very comfortable with people who are like him. That’s one of the reasons why he seems so stiff and awkward in some town hall settings, why he can’t relate to people other than that. But when he comes on Fox & Friends they’re like him, they’re white folks who are very much relaxed in their own company.”

Not long after his segment, a conservative website caught wind of Williams’ words, and a series of tweets in which he shows an obvious support of President Obama.

In a memo announcing his suspension, Politico editors said Williams’ actions “fell short of our standards for fairness and judgment in an especially unfortunate way.”

Chicago War Zone: 14-Year-Old Boy Murdered, 13 Wounded Across The City

Chicago War Zone: 14-Year-Old Boy Murdered, 13 Wounded Across The City

Once again, the Windy City proved to be the breeding ground of murder and mayhem as gunfire rang out over the troubled metropolis.

The Chicago Tribune reports: A 14-year-old boy was killed and 13 other people were wounded by gunfire across the city Friday night into Saturday morning, including a gang-related shooting near the Lincoln Park Zoo, authorities said.

Antonio Davis, of the 8000 block of South Eberhart Avenue, was found dead with several gunshot wounds in the 7000 block of South Union Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood about 8:40 p.m. Friday, according to the Chicago Fire Department and the medical examiner’s office.

The boy was walking with at least one other person when a grey van pulled up and a passenger, a man wearing a dark-colored hoodie, exited with a gun, said police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

He opened fire, striking the boy. As he lay on the ground, the shooter kept firing. “He shot him while the victim was down several times,’’ Perez said. The shooter then got back into the van, which was driven by another man about the same age – between the ages of 20 and 25.

Racist NYPD Cop Sentenced To 4 Years For Falsely Jailing Black Man

Racist NYPD Cop Sentenced To 4 Years For Falsely Jailing Black Man

Michael Daragjati, a former New York Police Department officer, was sentence to over four years in prison for his false and racist arrest of Staten Island man, Kenrick Gray, the New York Post reports.

After busting Gray on the bogus charge, he later boasted that he had “fried another n—-r.” Daragjati, 33, has been jailed since last October. He pleaded guilty to extortion and civil-rights violation crimes in January.

On April 15, 2011, Daragjati falsely busted Kenrick Gray, 32, on a charge of resisting arrest after they exchanged angry words on the street while the officer was on plainclothes patrol.

After Gray’s arrest, FBI agents caught Daragjati on a recorded phone call bragging that he “fried another n—-r.” Gray spent two days in jail.

He is now suing Daragjati, who was sentenced yesterday to nine months in prison for violating Gray’s civil rights.

Obama Could Become 1st Incumbent President Outspent In Campaign

Obama Could Become 1st Incumbent President Outspent In Campaign

WASHINGTON  — President Barack Obama’s campaign said Wednesday it expects the president to become the first incumbent to be outspent by his opponent, outlining the potential for $1 billion in spending from Republican-leaning outside groups supporting Mitt Romney.

Campaign officials said they expected Romney and a collection of Republican-leaning super PACs would spend roughly $1.2 billion to help get him elected against a president who broke all fundraising records in 2008 by hauling in about $750 million. The officials briefed White House and other political reporters only on condition of anonymity in order to discuss internal campaign strategy and polling data.

Romney’s campaign joined with the Republican National Committee to raise more than $76 million in May, outpacing Obama and the Democratic party, which raised a combined $60 million for the month. It was the first time that Obama has been outraised by an opponent since 2007.

Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said the Obama campaign is “used to moving the goal posts,” citing projections that Obama’s campaign might raise $1 billion.

Republicans Want Food Stamps Cut By Billions

Republicans Want Food Stamps Cut By Billions

WASHINGTON — The 1,000-page “farm bill” being debated in the Senate is somewhat of a misnomer. Four of every five dollars in it – roughly $80 billion a year – goes for grocery bills for one of every seven Americans through food stamps.

Republicans say Congress could cut the cost $2 billion a year by just closing a pair of loopholes that some states use to award benefits to people who otherwise might not qualify.

“This is more than just a financial issue. It is a moral issue,” says Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., one of several Republicans pushing for cuts in spending for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP.

The program has swelled from 28 million to 46 million participants and its costs have doubled in the past four years. The recession and slow recovery have increased the number of people unemployed over the same period from 8 million to 12 million.

The Agriculture Department credits the program with keeping about 5 million Americans out of poverty every year. Before 2004, people received paper stamps or coupons worth $1, $5 or $10. Since then, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Island and Guam have moved to debit-type cards that allow recipients to authorize transferring their benefits from a federal account to retailer accounts.

Democrats led by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York are resisting a proposal by Agriculture Committee leaders in both parties to trim a modest $250 million from the program each year by cracking down on abuses.

They say that would deprive about half a million households losing an average $90 a month in food aid.

7-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Hangs Himself From Backyard Tree With Karate Belt

7-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Hangs Himself From Backyard Tree With Karate Belt

Seven-year-old Aaris Conway was climbing a tree in his backyard in California, when he accidentally hanged himself with his karate belt.

“He wanted to come outside to play basketball,” Aaris’s mother Evelyn Briggs said. “Then he climbs in the tree that [the neighborhood kids] all climb in and hung himself.”

Briggs claims that Aaris had only been in the yard for about 20 minutes when it got quiet. She went outside to investigate with Aaris’s brother, Aaron, who, clearly distraught, said that he tried to pull his brother down, but it was too late.

“I was trying and trying not to pour any more tears, but I can’t help it,” he said.

Briggs said that there was nothing unusual about her son’s request to play outside alone and she’s still in shock about her baby’s death.

“I was screaming. But I realized I have to go grab my baby and so we got him untangled. He fell and I shook him. I did chest compression, CPR,” she said.
