WEBSTER, NY — A gunman ambushed four volunteer firefighters responding to an intense pre-dawn house fire Monday morning outside Rochester, N.Y., killing two before ending up dead himself, authorities said. Police used an armored vehicle to evacuate more than 30 nearby residents.

The gunman fired at the firefighters when they arrived shortly after 5:30 a.m. at the blaze near the Lake Ontario shore in Webster, town Police Chief Gerald Pickering said. The first Webster police officer who arrived chased the suspect and exchanged gunfire with him, authorities said.

“It does appear it was a trap” for the first responders to the fire, Pickering said at a news conference.

Authorities didn’t say how the gunman died or whether anyone might have died in the fire itself.

One of the dead firefighters was also a town police lieutenant; it wasn’t clear whether he returned fire. An off-duty police officer who was driving by was injured by shrapnel, Pickering said.

The fire started in one home and spread to two others and a car, officials said. The gunfire initially kept firefighters from battling the blazes. Police say four homes were destroyed and four damaged.

Mitt Romney’s failed presidential bid may be embarrassing to some, but the former Republican hopeful could care less, because he never really wanted to be president, this according to his son.

Tagg Romney gave an interesting interview in which he basically exposed his father’s true intentions, and as it turns out they had nothing to do with holding the nation’s highest office.

“He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life,” Tagg said of teaming with his mother to convince his dad to run again. “He had no desire to…run.”

ORLANDO, FL — A security company claims in a lawsuit that George Zimmerman, his wife and attorney owe more than $27,000 for protection services.

Associated Investigative Services filed the lawsuit last Friday in Orange County Circuit Court. The company says it was hired in June to provide security for the Zimmerman family, but promised payments stopped after an independent trustee took over Zimmerman’s defense fund.

Zimmerman attorney Mark O’Mara says the lawsuit was a surprise and that the company was paid some $40,000.

GWINNETT, GA — According to classmates of 14-year-old Paul Sampleton Jr., the out-going teen was a collector and trader of high-end and high priced shoes, especially Jordans, often being the first person to have them. And that’s probably why someone wanted him dead.

Sampleton was tied up in his Gwinnett County, Georgia home and shot to death Wednesday afternoon, the last day of classes before winter break. His father found him.

Police quickly ruled out suicide or an accidental shooting, calling Paul’s death a homicide.

Paul played on the freshman football team for most of the season and played baseball, according to his friends. But he had one hobby that made him stand out from others, he did love his shoes.

A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with making terroristic threats, stalking and harassment after she allegedly threatened to kill elementary school children at a bus stop near her home.

According to police, Simone L. Brooks, 35, threatened to kill the children with a shovel and allegedly performed a “simulated strip tease” in a towel on her porch while yelling at them.

Reportedly, two of Brooks’ own children were at the bus stop while she engaged in the alleged acts.

The Lower Paxton Twp. woman was taken to Dauphin County Prison after failing to post $50,000 bail.

John Kerry will replace Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, an announcement of which is expected to be made in the next few days.

Although President Obama said that he wanted Clinton to remain in the position, Kerry is said to top his list of successors.

Sources tell ABC News that President Obama has decided that he will nominate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to be secretary of state.

For a variety of reasons including the finalization of the process, other pending Cabinet decisions, and — more immediately — the national reaction to the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the news will not be announced in the next few days.

Clinton is currently out sick with a concussion and a stomach virus. The illness came just as she was scheduled to testify about the September 11th attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

According to numerous reports, Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old who killed 20 children and seven adults in Newtown, Connecticut last Friday before killing himself, allegedly suffered from Asperger’s syndrome. Some have speculated that his disorder contributed to the factors leading Lanza to commit mass murder, but experts have cautioned that Lanza’s mental state was likely a complex portrait of disturbance in which autism played a minor part.

Asperger’s syndrome is a neurological condition that, while incurable, can be managed if treated. Sufferers of this autism spectrum disorder often experience difficulty with emotional connection, engage in ritualistic behaviors, and become isolated from peers. These symptoms plagued Lanza, who many in his town have described as an intelligent, but extremely awkward, loner.

Experts have related that, although displays of aggression in those diagnosed with autism can occur up to 30 percent more often than among members of the general population, there is no connection between Asperger’s and the type of violence Lanza displayed.

BROOKLYN, NY – Ronald Bozeman was in good spirits after being released from prison last week. Bozeman, 65, had spent over a year in jail for a crime he did not commit.

Bozeman was cleared of all charges related to a $9,000 robbery that occurred in downtown Brooklyn last year. Two witnesses had asserted to a grand jury that Bozeman was the gunman. Court records show these witnesses subsequently named another man, George Johnson, as the gunman during a second grand jury.

Bozeman, who was held without bail and faced life in prison, was freed last Wednesday.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL – Tesia Cain, a mother of three children, drove a stolen car into an annual police charity event Friday right after she picked up her armed boyfriend.

Cain, 22, drove the stolen car into the parking lot of Walmart where two dozen Boynton Beach police officers were gathered at their Shop-with-a-Cop fundraiser for underprivileged children.

Officers had just been notified that there was a stolen car in the area when Cain drove into the lot with a vehicle matching the description.

Cain’s three children, ages 5, 4 and 4 months, were in the vehicle without seat belts on, as well as Cain’s boyfriend Dwayne Durham, 24, who was in possession of a loaded gun.
