Two Men Arrested After Shooting At A Nightclub

KENNETH JACKSON

JAFET RODRIGUEZ

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Jafet Rodriguez, 39, and Kenneth Jackson, 34, after a shooting in Tampa.

On Monday, March 18, 2024, at 1:53 a.m., while on patrol, several HCSO deputies heard multiple gunshots coming from the Secrets Gentlemen’s Club, 8829 West Hillsborough Ave.

Within moments, deputies arrived when they observed a white SUV fleeing from the scene.

Detectives began investigating and located Joar Michel, 39, with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Patrol deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle that was observed fleeing from the scene shortly after that.

Despite the deputy’s attempts to pull over the SUV, the driver did not comply. HCSO’s Aviation Unit was dispatched to provide surveillance, guiding deputies to the suspect’s vehicle. Additionally, the Tampa Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol began assisting in coordinating efforts to stop the car.

After several minutes of following the vehicle, the driver approached a stop sign where deputies could box the SUV to prevent it from fleeing again. Jackson, the driver, fled on foot until the Tampa Police Department arrested him.

Rodriguez, the passenger and shooter, was arrested without incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

JAWAD YASSER AWDI

The Tampa Police Department helicopter played a key role in the swift and safe apprehension of two individuals involved in reckless driving and a street
intersection takeover.

In the early morning hours of March 16, 2024, Tampa Police responded to
reports of a group of vehicles blocking the intersection of W. Kennedy Blvd., and N. MacDill Ave. Officers with the Tampa Police Aviation Unit observed a group of subjects lighting a fire in the intersection as a green Ford Mustang engaged in reckless driving, doing donuts, and impeding traffic in the blocked intersection.

Patrol officers on the ground attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the
Mustang, but the driver fled northbound. The officers did not engage in a
pursuit. The vehicle was monitored by the officers in the Tampa Police
helicopter, who provided real-time updates to officers on the ground.

The Mustang eventually came to a stop at the 7-Eleven, located at 4320 N. MacDill Ave., where officers were able to safely apprehend both the driver and passenger of the vehicle and take them into custody.

Anwar Yasser Awdi 24, was charged with unlawful racing on a highway and fleeing to elude an officer.

Police charged 19-year-old Jawad Yasser Awdi with unlawful racing on a highway.
The Mustang was impounded.
This remains an active investigation as detectives work to identify others
involved in this illegal activity.

Road Rage Incident Leads To Man Facing Second-Degree Murder Charge

Road Rage Incident Leads To Man Facing Second-Degree Murder Charge

JORGE RAMIREZ

The State Attorney’s Office filed second-degree murder charges against Jorge Ramirez, the man who shot and killed a father of five following a road rage incident in Riverview. Ramirez was arrested in January and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Following a review of the completed investigation, The State Attorney’s Office added the additional murder charges.

On January 16, Ramirez was driving his black BMW sedan with two friends when he approached the victim’s Green Chevy Suburban from behind. Witnesses say Ramirez was trying to pass the Suburban to cut through a parking lot to avoid waiting at a red light. The passengers in Ramirez’ vehicle say he became angry when the Suburban blocked the entrance to the parking lot. Ramirez began closely following the victim’s vehicle afterwards, ramming the hitch several times.

Ramirez passed the Chevy Suburban in a residential area and quickly stopped to exit the car. The victim also exited his vehicle and retrieved two metal pipes from the trunk. Ramirez, from behind his black BMW, shot at the victim who was more than 20 feet away at the time of the shooting. This all occurred while the victim’s fiancé and children were watching from the Suburban. Witnesses from both vehicles were interviewed and gave similar statements.
