{"id":9716,"date":"2011-09-08T15:14:15","date_gmt":"2011-09-08T19:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=9716"},"modified":"2011-09-08T12:32:25","modified_gmt":"2011-09-08T16:32:25","slug":"jay-zs-4040-club-under-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=9716","title":{"rendered":"Jay-Z&#8217;s 40\/40 Club Under Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jay-Z&#8217;s<\/strong> flagship NYC 40\/40 Club is under renovation and under fire from the New York City District Council of Carpenters.<\/p>\n<p>The union is claiming that the company which was hired to make those renovations, Conelle Construction Corp., \u201cdoes not meet area labor standards, including providing or fully paying for family healthcare and pension for all of its carpenter craft employees,\u201d according to a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The NYCDCC also claims Conelle Construction Corp. is paying its workers \u201csubstandard wage\u201d and hold owner <strong>Jay-Z<\/strong> responsible saying the rapper \u201chas an obligation to see that area labor standard are met for construction work on their future location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Protestors have placed four nearly twenty foot blown up rats facing the club. There is also a banner-sized sign that reads: Shame On The 40\/40 Club (Jay-Z) For Hurting New York City.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time <strong>Jigga<\/strong> has come under fire for his club&#8217;s alleged shady practices. <strong>Jay<\/strong> was sued by workers at the flagship location back in 2008 for allegedly violating minimum wage laws.<\/p>\n<p>The 40\/40 club is expected to reopen its doors November 1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jay-Z&#8217;s flagship NYC 40\/40 Club is under renovation and under fire from the New York City District Council of Carpenters.
