{"id":9554,"date":"2011-09-01T15:16:27","date_gmt":"2011-09-01T19:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=9554"},"modified":"2011-09-01T13:43:36","modified_gmt":"2011-09-01T17:43:36","slug":"five-former-buccaneer-players-sue-the-nfl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=9554","title":{"rendered":"Five Former Buccaneer  Players Sue The NFL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five former Tampa Bay Buccaneers are part of a group of former National Football league players suing the league and helmet-makers over head injuries suffered during their careers.<\/p>\n<p>The 18 players named in the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles also include former Bucs <strong>Jimmie Giles<\/strong>, <strong>James Wilder<\/strong>, <strong>Cedric Brown<\/strong>, <strong>Greg Roberts<\/strong>, and <strong>Jesse Solomon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The suit claims the NFL, Riddell Sports Group and its parent company, Easton-Bell Sports, knew the long term effects of brain injury from trauma suffered by the players and purposely hid it.<\/p>\n<p>NFL spokesman, <strong>Greg Aiello<\/strong>, said the league will strongly contest the claims.<\/p>\n<p>More than 75 current and former NFL players filed a similar suit in July, and another group did so this month in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five former Tampa Bay Buccaneers are part of a group of former National Football league players suing the league and helmet-makers over head injuries suffered during their careers.
