{"id":9085,"date":"2011-08-11T16:10:59","date_gmt":"2011-08-11T20:10:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=9085"},"modified":"2011-08-11T16:10:59","modified_gmt":"2011-08-11T20:10:59","slug":"mom-accuses-police-of-beating-her-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=9085","title":{"rendered":"Mom Accuses Police Of Beating Her Son"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ms. Demetria Styles<\/strong> said her son was arrested by Tampa Police early Monday. <strong>Ms. Styles<\/strong> said her son, <strong>Keith George, III<\/strong>, was arrested for violation of probation, but she wants to know why he was allegedly beaten, kicked, and tasered several times during the arrest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Styles<\/strong> said <strong>George<\/strong> and two friends had left a club around 1:30 a.m., when the vehicle they were riding in was stopped by police at the intersection of N. 15th Street and E. 26th Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe did try to run because he knew he was wanted for violating his probation. But when he called me, he could hardly talk. He said they kicked him and punched him in his face several times. His friends said the police just kept tasering him and laughing. They (police) kept telling him to \u201csay you\u2019re sorry\u201d as they repeatedly tasered him for about 10 minutes. They also told him, \u2018you got you\u2019re a** whipped and now you\u2019re going to jail.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Styles<\/strong> said the police never said why they stopped the car, but eventually let her son\u2019s two friends leave without being arrested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Styles<\/strong> said police had gone to her mother\u2019s home to arrest her son the weekend before the encounter. \u201cI was told that the police report said there were no bruises, but when you look at my son\u2019s face, you can see he was beaten.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She stated that she is particularly concerned about the tasering because her son has a heart murmur. <strong>[private]<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>George<\/strong>, 18, was charged with possession of cannabis (less than 20 grams), grand theft of a motor vehicle, and obstructing or opposing an officer without violence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Styles<\/strong> has filed a complaint with the Tampa Police Department\u2019s Internal Affairs Bureau.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Janelle McGregor<\/strong>, spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said, \u201cWe take complaints very seriously and that is why we have an Internal Affairs Bureau to sort out these matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Internal Affairs Bureau will conduct a thorough investigation into the mother\u2019s complaint and determine exactly what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anyone wishing to contact <strong>Iris B.
