{"id":8735,"date":"2011-07-25T16:00:37","date_gmt":"2011-07-25T20:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=8735"},"modified":"2011-07-25T15:30:33","modified_gmt":"2011-07-25T19:30:33","slug":"ex-heat-star-mourning-sued-over-traffic-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flsentinel.com\/?p=8735","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Heat Star Mourning Sued Over Traffic Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CORAL GABLES, Fla.<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8212; Former Miami Heat star<strong> Alonzo Mourning<\/strong> was sued Wednesday over a traffic crash that raised questions about whether he improperly left the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit seeking unspecified damages was filed on behalf of 21-year-old <strong>William Candelario<\/strong>, who suffered head injuries in the rollover crash near Miami Beach. <strong>Candelario<\/strong> said he has little memory of what happened and his attorney said the lawsuit is aimed at finding answers.<\/p>\n<p>In a brief interview, <strong>Mourning<\/strong> said he came upon the crash scene but declined to say whether he struck one of the vehicles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sgt. Thomas Pikul<\/strong>, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman, said investigators determined that <strong>Mourning&#8217;s<\/strong> blue Porsche Panamera struck <strong>Candelario&#8217;s<\/strong> Audi A4 a short time after the Audi had collided with a third vehicle.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mourning<\/strong>, currently the Heat&#8217;s vice president for player programs and development, acknowledged leaving the scene. Investigators said he returned about 40 minutes later, in another car driven by his wife, <strong>Tracy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I left and came right back. Left and came back. There was no panic at all because I didn&#8217;t do anything wrong.
